阅读理解之记叙文 (江苏名校期末真题) (22-23高一下·江苏徐州·期末)Babusha, or “eight-step sands”, got its name because the desert was always just eight steps away from the farmers’ doors. Today, the desert’s southward movement has been stopped thanks to a green belt planted in the last 40 years by Guo Wangang and his colleagues. As a result, Guo was named a National Moral Model in 2020. Guo is only part of the second generation of “soldiers” to fight against the desert. His father was one of the six men who first began planting trees in Babusha. When Guo’s father fell ill in 1983, he hoped that his son would follow in his footsteps. Guo remembers being reluctant to give up his stable government job. “My father repeatedly stressed that we had to make sure our farms weren’t eaten by the desert,” Guo said, adding that he eventually agreed to work at the farm because he didn’t want to see the trees die. However, it was the deadly sandstorm in 1993 that turned Guo into a determined “soldier”. The fast moving brown wall of dust reached high into the sky and turned day into night. Guo was working in the desert with his colleagues when it hit. They only managed to get home after trekking for six hours in darkness. Later, he learned that 23 students were found dead in a river as they tried to get home from school during the sandstorm. Since then, Guo and his colleagues have continued planting trees every spring and fall, pruning (修剪) them in winter and watching out for fire. Their struggle continues. Today more and more young people have joined with scientific and innovative methods. For example, the farm now is subsidized (资助) by Ant Forest, a public welfare project launched by the e-commerce giant, Alibaba. It rewards users with virtual energy in exchange for low-carbon activities, which can then be used to do things, like having trees planted. “We need more such young people to help us find other advanced and engineering methods for desertification control,” said Guo Wangang. 1.What was Guo Wangang’s first reaction to his father’s request? A.He advised his father to stop planting trees. B.He was unwilling to give up his stable job. C.He immediately agreed to work at the farm. B.One tree doesn’t make a forest. C.Opportunity favours only the prepared mind. D.Nothing is too difficult if you put your heart into it. (22-23高一下·江苏扬州·期末)Mike White wasn’t too concerned when his five-year-old dog, BuzzMan, hadn’t returned last February. Si, it had been a few hours, so using his cell phone, White followed the sound from the GPS on the dog to a narrow cave entrance just large enough for a dog like BuzzMan. There were fresh dog prints outside. Now White was much more concerned. Brewington and Mirza were called in for help. They arrived at once and set about enlarging the entranceway by hand. The passageway was just three feet high, forcing the two men to slowly crawl(爬行), the only light coming from headlamps attached to their helmets(头盔). They stopped when they hit a tight space and returned to the outside world. When BuzzMan hadn’t appeared by Sunday afternoon, smaller volunteers were called in. At 5:00 p.m., four new cavers, two men and two women, moved through the entrance. What added to their difficulty was the dangerous cave floods. “If it rains,” Mirza says, “the cave will kill people.” That night’s weather forecast: rain. After an hour or so, they reached a difficult situation and could go no farther. Still, one of them, Romanak, decided to push a bit farther before quitting. He crawled 30 feet more, and the passage gave way to a large room. And there was BuzzMan, standing on a narrow rock. Romanak gently attached a chain to his collar, helping him off the rock and out. At 9:30 p.m.—30 hours later, BuzzMan got out of the cave, running straight to Mike White and licking him by wet kisses. In total, eight cavers answered the request to rescue Buzz Man on a volunteer basis and were thought highly of by the community. Mirza laughed off the praise. After all, going into tight spaces was their hobby. “What we consider fun,” he said, “often makes most people frightened.” 5.Why did Mike White feel much more concerned? C.When in Rome, do as the Romans do. D.One man’s meat is another man’s poison. (22-23高一下·江苏泰州·期末)At the age of 70, the famous painter Marc Chagall discovered that by designing stained-glass windows, he could breathe bright color and light into his artwork.    Born in 1887 in a Russian town, Chagall started painting when he was 19. He was tired of the dull colors of traditional Russian art. Thus in 1911, he moved to Paris. There, actors, writers, musicians and artists from around the world were creating new art forms. In France, Chagall learned new ways of painting, but stayed true to his childhood memories. While others chose modern subjects, he painted scenes of fantasy and fairy tales in an older, farmer-like way of life. One day, during a walk through the French countryside, he discovered a picturesque church He imagined replacing its walls with stained-glass windows. Then, in another 700-year-old church, he saw a stained-glass window containing a green donkey. It dawned on him that he could create his own. He began to co-work with master glassworker Charles Marq. Many stained-glass windows: were made of flat colors, but Chagall used various techniques to create the effects he wanted. He painted images on glass, then had it fired to high temperatures, making the lines and colors part of the glass. Marq admired Chagall’s determination. He also said Chagall worked with the carefulness of those rope walkers he admires, without which they couldn’t fly in their weightlessness up there. In 1964, Chagall designed a stained-glass window for the United Nations building in New York. The UN works for international peace. Using a blue background as the symbol of peace and life, Chagall designed the window with angels floating in the sky, and mothers holding their children. Chagall lived through two world wars and the loss of loved ones. He often refused payment for his stained-glass windows, especially those he made for churches. He created them as gifts for the world, gifts that catch the sun. Today, people are still amazed about how his stained-glass creations shine and change with the sun. 9.Why did Chagall move to France? A.To try to escape the war. B.To learn how to paint. C.To look for true freedom. D.To get new inspiration. 10.What drove Chagall to create his own stained-glass windows? A.His dislike of flat colors. Langford wowed the judges with his 56-bar composition, Fairytale (童话). A long-term subscriber (订阅者) to Pianist, Langford is retired, having enjoyed a career in engineering. During his early years he received some help from his brother on the knowledge of music, but he was mainly self-taught, learning by ear. “I was always attracted to the piano. I took some evening classes in piano and theory later on, but work left little time to practise. Now that I’ve retired I spend almost all my time at the piano. I always thought I had some musical ability, and though I don’t consider myself much of a pianist, I do enjoy composing.” Langford entered last year’s competition with his Waltz for Ava, and was awarded runner-up (亚军). “Nearly winning last year added to my confidence. But now, winning… it’s the top of my musical achievements!” And what of the title, Fairytale? “The piece is composed for a young YouTube pianist called Mayuki Miyashita. About ten years ago I came across a video of her at the age of ten playing a piece by Hiromi. I was so moved. I imagine her life must be like something of a fairy tale in itself. I have followed her progress ever since.” Langford received a black Kawai ES520 piano. “I’m lucky to have it. It will replace my old one and be put to good use; I think it’s easier to record yourself and produce videos for YouTube on a digital.” Langford uploads his compositions to YouTube “for a bit of fun really. Because I don’t play in public, I don’t have the confidence, so I use it to encourage myself.” The competition’s two runners-up were Erik Johannessen and Rebekah Raa. But when I got to experience it firsthand, I was surprised. Recently, we did a poetry project, and one of the activities was a partner review. I would never have taken part if it was up to me, as I prefer to work independently. But when I got involved, I found the experience had done something I thought nearly impossible—it made my poem better. My partner informed me of my mistakes and told me where I could give more details. One of our final products of the project was to present our poem to the class. I’ve always loved public speaking, but I thought with Summit Learning I would have fewer chances to speak. I was wrong. The activities we did with a partner gave me an extra push of confidence and inspired me to do more to make my presentation the best it could possibly be. Interactions like these are what Summit Learning is all about. This style of learning brings a positive, hard-working culture that allows you to push your limits and keep going. It creates a sense of community, since we are all working towards a similar goal. I have always been ahead and advanced, but in a normal classroom there are limits on what you can do. With Summit Learning, I can go beyond expectations in projects or move ahead in learning new content when I’m ready. I have ownership of my work and work towards my goals. Summit Learning has showed me how much people can grow and change. It has helped me see people and myself differently. It has been one of the greatest experiences of my life, and I cannot see myself back to a “normal” classroom. 17.What was the author’s first response to Summit Learning? A.He was eager to take part. B.He was anxious to show up. C.He was ready to give up. D.He was unwilling to attend. 18.How did the poetry project benefit the author? A.It improved his poem and confidence. B.It transforms the learning style. C.It values individuality. D.It teaches public presentation. 20.How does the author find Summit Learning now? A.Rigid. B.Challenging. C.Inspiring. D.Normal. (22-23高一下·江苏盐城·期末)Teachers are some of the world’s most underappreciated heroes. Not only are they themselves heroes, but they attempt to bring out the inner heroes of future generations. Raj, a film professor at New Mexico State University is a perfect example. Raj was born in Sri Lanka, an island off the coast of India. From a nearly age, he suffered from a variety of medical conditions. Growing political tensions in Sri Lanka forced him and his family to relocate to the United States. Raj was thrown into a world where he was different. He looked different, spoke a different language, and hardest of all, still dealt with serious medical conditions. However, his open-mindedness and sense of humor eventually won him the respect of his classmates. On making friends, Raj tells us, “I think that so many issues in the world come from the fact that we are isolated within groups, yet we have so much in common. Instead of focusing on what’s different, let’s find our commonalities, and we’ll find ways to connect with each other.” Even as a child, Raj did not allow his diseases to consume him, and he continued to be perfect academically. Raj has continued to receive spinal(脊柱) surgeries that force him to re-learn how to walk and drive. His natural interest in creativity led him to UCLA’s world-class fine-arts program. Aside from being a film professor, he is a successful filmmaker. It is this positivity that gets Raj to where he is today. “I think that even the smallest positive impact that we can have on other people’s lives can make us heroes,” he tells us. “It may be very small for us, but that small thing could be huge for the person you do it for.” 21.Why did Raj and his family move to America when he was young? Pip didn’t recognize it, but the expression showed that its owner was pleased to see Pip. Suddenly Pip knew who he was when he sat down in a chair near the fire! The convict in the churchyard years ago! “You helped me, Pip,” said the man. “I have never forgotten it.” Pip felt none for him, saying, “If you’ve come here to thank me, it isn’t necessary. But it turned out that she didn’t like sitting at a desk all day, and she struggled to see how what she was doing would make much difference to anything. Instead of going to work every day and complaining about her job until she reached retirement age, Emma decided to find out what made her happy, what her skills were, and what sort of career would need them. She wrote a list of the jobs she had wanted to do since childhood and set about getting two-week placements (安排) in all of them over a year. She was 24 years old, and she wanted o have tried out at least 25 different jobs before her 25th birthday. She spent the months before she quit her job saving up her year off, and. spent all her free time setting up the different jobs. A year later, Emma said her favorites were the jobs that were more creative, relevant to travel or were outdoors. “Things like travel writing, archaeology, farming, working with the police, being a blogger, an explorer and an author,” she said. “Considering that I am now working as a writer and speaker, communication skills in both verbal (口头的) and written form have been the most important. There were also plenty of more technical skills that I learned, like website design, social media management, building a commercial brand and conducting interviews.” Emma added she also saw her softer people-focused skills improve. “I could be very adaptable, quickly build relationships and accept change—I could walk into a new team or situation and get on well with everyone. Finally, there were things like showing that I was active, an independent and creative thinker as well as an innovative problem solver—I could certainly show that I could think outside the box!” 29.What does the underlined word “sought-after” mean in the first paragraph? (21-22高一下·江苏常州·期末)Fisayo Longe started her fashion label Kai Collective to celebrate all female forms—not just the western idea of beauty. “I feel my clothes transform you into a woman who is more confident,” says Longe. Born in London and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, before returning to the UK when she was 15, Longe’s original outlet for her love of fashion was her blog Mirror Me. Having a passion for travel, Longe would pick up fabrics from the countries she visited and make clothes for herself, which she posted on social media. As her creations started to become a hit, the seed for her own brand was planted. “I wanted something I could put 100% of my creativity into, something that belonged to me and women like me,” explains the business owner, who recalls going into a high street store and the jeans not fitting her body very well. Longe says, “I’ve always wanted to build that kind of community of women because, having grown up in Nigeria, I feel some women are made to feel they have to dim (使暗淡)their light—we don’t realize our power. Things are all centred around men and marriage. I want to build a community that focuses on ourselves and our confidence.” With no formal fashion training, Longe set up Kai Collective four years ago with money borrowed from her mum. Longe is the first to admit she was rather “naive” when she started, giving an example of heading to Turkey with her mother to find a company to produce her designs. “That’s not the way to find producers,” she says. “It’s much better to go to trade shows.” But whatever she’s doing, it’s obviously working, with the brand featured in an Elle magazine cover shoot with the model Adwoa Aboah, as well as in Beyonce’s black-owned businesses list. 33.How did Longe express her love of fashion at first? A.By setting up her own brand. B.By making her clothes while travelling. C.By visiting high street stores frequently. D.By putting her designs on social media. 34.What is Longe trying to do? A.To help women realize their dreams. B.To stress women’s role in a community. C.To inspire women to live independently. D.To encourage women to find their own value. 35.What can we learn about Longe when she first started her business? A.She was afraid of failure. B.She got formal fashion training. C.She lacked relevant experience. D.She hunted for producers at trade shows. 36.What does the last paragraph want to tell us about Longe? A.She is on the right track. B.She will never give up. C.She has great ambitions. D.She is really hard-working. (21-22高一下·江苏泰州·期末)I often wondered what it would be like to have cancer. I didn’t expect to find out, though, at last not for decades. I have always been healthy and strong; I regularly do hot yoga and swim two kilometers in a bay near my home in Sydney. But now I know: it felt as if I was carrying a baby. Tumors (肿瘤) that silently grew inside me suddenly became bigger one weekend. Then, one Saturday in June, I was struck with sharp pain and ended up in the hospital. My doctor said it might be very serious. I spent two weeks waiting for the operation, not knowing if I’d live to the end of the year. In the days before the operation, I turned off my phone and computer. I prayed so hard that I grew unnaturally calm. The operation lasted five hours. The mass was fully removed, but it was unexpectedly complicated. I was in special care for eight days, in the wires, machines, with pipes in my lungs and liver. Luckily, the operation was very successful and I am slowly growing stronger. I am walking upright again and waking without great pain. I can now drive, and am preparing to return to work. My prognosis (预后) is good, but I will need to live with the fear of return. Everyone suddenly seems consumed with foolish worries. I have a different idea about the complaints posted by some Internet users who had the flu, were upset by the upcoming exams or burdened by work. I want to scream: BUT YOU ARE ALIVE! Alive! Each day is a gift, especially if you are upright and able to move with ease, without pain. I’m still struggling with what all of this means. But in this short time, a truth became even clearer to me. We should not have to move to the woods like Henry David Thoreau to “live meaningfully”. It would be impossible and frankly tiring to live each day as if it were your last. My doctor asked me a few days ago how I became so calm before the operation. I told her: I prayed; I locked out negativity and drew my family and friends near; I tried to live meaningfully. She said, “Actually you should do that for the rest of your life.” 37.What did the author think of her physical state before being diagnosed (诊断) with cancer? A.She knew tumors silently grew inside her. B.She exercised regularly but felt bad sometimes. C.She thought there was nothing wrong with her health. D.She was considered to be healthy by the doctor. 38.Which one is not the so-called “foolish worries” according to the author in Paragraph 9? A.Loss of both legs. B.Suffering from the flu. C.Burden of heavy workloads. D.Fear of the monthly exams. 39.Which of the following can best describe the author? A.Kind and outgoing. B.Cautious and brave. C.Confident and generous. D.Positive and reflective. 40.What is the author’s purpose in writing the text? A.To share a pleasant experience. B.To recommend a healthy lifestyle. C.To call on people to live a worthy life. D.To try hard to make a difference to the world. 试卷第1页,共3页 试卷第1页,共3页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 参考答案: 1.B 2.D 3.A 4.D 【导语】这是一篇记叙文。文章主要讲述经过Guo Wangang和同事们几十年的努力,“八步沙”治理效果明显。 1.细节理解题。根据第二段的“When Guo’s father fell ill in 1983, he hoped that his son would follow in his footsteps.(1983年,当郭的父亲生病时,他希望儿子能追随他的脚步)”和第三段的“Guo remembers being reluctant to give up his stable government job.(郭记得他不愿意放弃他稳定的政府工作)”可知,Guo Wangang对父亲请求的第一反应是不愿意放弃稳定的政府部门工作而去种树。故选B。 2.细节理解题。根据第四段的“However, it was the deadly sandstorm in 1993 that turned Guo into a determined “soldier”.(然而,正是1993年那场致命的沙尘暴让郭成为了一名坚定的“战士”)”可知,经历一场致命的沙尘暴标志着Guo Wangang治理沙漠的转折点。故选D。 3.推理判断题。根据倒数第二段的“For example, the farm now is subsidized (资助) by Ant Forest, a public welfare project launched by the e-commerce giant, Alibaba. I have followed her progress ever since.””(那曲名《童话》呢? 故选A项。 16. 根据倒数第二段“Langford received a black Kawai ES520 piano. “I’m lucky to have it. It will replace my old one and be put to good use; I think it’s easier to record yourself and produce videos for YouTube on a digital.” Langford uploads his compositions to YouTube “for a bit of fun really. Because I don’t play in public, I don’t have the confidence, so I use it to encourage myself.””(兰福德收到了一架黑色的卡瓦伊ES520钢琴。 根据第一段的“When I first heard about Summit Learning, I admit I was not a bit excited. Raj has continued to receive spinal(脊柱) surgeries that force him to re-learn how to walk and drive. Having a passion for travel, Longe would pick up fabrics from the countries she visited and make clothes for herself, which she posted on social media. As her creations started to become a hit, the seed for her own brand was planted.”(她最初用博客Mirror Me来表达自己对时尚的热爱。 根据文章第四段““I’ve always wanted to build that kind of community of women because, having grown up in Nigeria, I feel some women are made to feel they have to dim (使暗淡)their light-we don’t realize our power. I want to build a community that focuses on ourselves and our confidence.””(“我一直想建立这样一个女性社区,因为在尼日利亚长大,我觉得有些女性不得不觉得她们必须使她们的光变暗——我们没有意识到我们的力量。 根据文章第五段“Longe is the first to admit she was rather “naive” when she started, giving an example of heading to Turkey with her mother to find a company to produce her designs. “That’s not the way to find producers,” she says. 根据文章最后一段“But whatever she’s doing, it’s obviously working, with the brand featured in an Elle magazine cover shoot with the model Adwoa Aboah, as well as in Beyonce’s black-owned businesses list.”(但无论她在做什么,它显然都在发挥作用,该品牌出现在Elle杂志的封面照片中,封面是模特 Adwoa Aboah,以及出现在碧昂斯的黑人拥有的企业名单中)可知,她的工作都在正确的轨道上。故选A项。 根据第二段“I have always been healthy and strong; I regularly do hot yoga and swim two kilometers in a bay near my home in Sydney.(我一直都很健康和强壮;我经常做热瑜伽,在悉尼我家附近的海湾游泳两公里)”可知,在被诊断癌症之前,作者认为她的健康没有任何问题。故选C项。 38. 根据第九段“Everyone suddenly seems consumed with foolish worries. But in this short time, a truth became even clearer to me.(我仍在苦苦思索这一切意味着什么。但在这短短的时间里,一个真相对我来说变得更加清晰)”以及倒数第二段“I told her: I prayed; I locked out negativity and drew my family and friends near; I tried to live meaningfully.(我告诉她:我祈祷;我把消极的一面拒之门外,把我的家人和朋友拉近;我试着过有意义的生活)”可知,作者努力进行反思,且积极面对生活,所以作者是积极的和乐于反思的。故选D项。 40. 根据倒数第二段“I told her: I prayed; I locked out negativity and drew my family and friends near; I tried to live meaningfully.(我告诉她:我祈祷;我把消极的一面拒之门外,把我的家人和朋友拉近;我试着过有意义的生活)”以及最后一段“She said, “Actually you should do that for the rest of your life.”(她说:“事实上,你应该一辈子都这么做。”)”
