choice. Here's a list of local picks that will help you discover the best walks around Queenstown, a
walkers' paradise, for every age and ability
Tiki Trail
For one of the best views of Oueenstown and a decent workout, climb the Tiki Trail up to the
Skyline Gondola building. Starting at the base of the Gondola, the Tiki Trail winds its way steeply
through trees towards the lookout at the top
Choose to hike back to Oueenstown. Or if the climb has gotten the better of you, sit back, relax
and catch a ride in the Skvline Gondola

Peak and the manicured gardens are beautiful year-round
You could spend hours here exploring the rose gardens or playing disc golf. If you're tight or
time, the loop around the shore of Lake Whakatipu takes less than an hour to complete

"Hello. You are you and I am I. We are people, also known as humans. This makes us differen
from most of the things on Earth. "This fairly straightforward observation is the opening spread o
Like, written by Annie Barrows. It establishes a somewhat odd vet matter-of-fact tone with a young
boy addressing the reader.
Matters get more quizzical-or philosophical (哲学意:义的),if you prefer-on the
following spread, which carefully thinks about the ways in which people are different from one
specific thing on Earth, "We are bt at all like tin cans. We are not shaped like tin cars. We canno

like tin cans."The target audience will no doubt be amused, as was I, and perhaps reassured
Like next matches people with the swimming pools, "We are a little bit more like a swimming
pool than a tin can. We have water and chemicals and dirt inside us. But unlike a swimming pool
we don't have people splashing around inside us. "Mushrooms, we learn, differ from tin cans and
swimming pools by being alive, and by growing and reproducing-human traits, too! Mushrooms
however, don't have mouths and brains. But wait: Hyenas ( have all that. "They run around really

people of seemingly every size, shape, color, age and means of mobility. "They are not exactly like
us. But they are more like us than they are different."
"I am more like you than I am like most of the things on Earth, the narrator concludes. "T'm

The hens look up at me from their nesting boxes. They seem slightly annoyed but unsurprised
A child runs up. pushes one of the chickens aside, and snatches two eggs. Around me, a half-dozen
more children and adults collect eggs while a half-dozen others hand-feed dried mealworms to birds
flocking around our ankles, I reach for an egg from an empty nest. There is something perfect abou
the way it fits warmly in the palm of my hand before I transfer it into a pretty wire basket provided
to me by my hosts
The egg harvest is a brief, carefully designed agritourism experience offering an experience of
the labor rather than just having a bite of food. Snatching a few eggs and uprooting a rew vegetables
on the farm tour don't constitute a full day's work, but it is also a useful reminder that food doesn'
just magically appear on restaurant plates and grocery store shelves. Of course, visitors can take
those eggs home or bring them to the on-farm restaurant, Clay, where a chef will use them to
prepare breakfast

A few centuries of industrialization, urbanization, and globalization have collected people into
cities, but the attraction of the countryside has always remained. In the new urban-centered world
enterprising tarmers nave found plenty of opportunities to sell their rural lifestyle along with their
crops. Italy promoted the modern model for combining agriculture and tourism in the wake of
World War II. when the national government encouraged rural populations to continue producing
food rather than move to urban areas in search of more profitaple jobs
Agritourism acts as an umorella term for a wide variety of activities that take place on farms.
including farmstays, where guests sleep on-site. Por varying investments of time, energy, and
money, anyone can engage in our farming system, giving consumers a peek behind the farm-to
table world.

Chinese scientists have created a breakthrough fibre that can be woven into warm. lightweignt
clothing using aerogel, a thermal insulation (热绝缘) material mainly used in the aerospace
industry.
Aerogel, notable for their performance and durability, could have various applications. As the
world's lightest solid material, it has long been valued for its thermal insulation properties
Traditional aerogel, made by replacing the liquid. in aerogel with air, is extraordinarily light
resembling a solid cloud of smoke. Its high porosity (多孔. 性)gives it exceptional hea
resistance, but this also makes it fragile and challenging to process, limiting its use in civilian
applications.
But now, rtesearchers at Zhejiang University have overcome aerogel's fragility and designed an
encapsulated aerogel fibre ( EAF ) with similar thermal insulation mechanisms-after being
inspired by the structure of polar bear hair
The China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation as well as Nasa have used EAF in
Mars rovers, which endure extreme temperatures ranging from thousands of degrees during the
Martian landing to -130 degrees Celsius (-202 degrees Fahrenheit on the planet's surface.
In an experiment, a volunteer wore textiles(纺织品)made of EAF, down, wool. and coton
in a-20 degree Celsius environment. The surface temperatures of these materials were 3.5 degrees
3.8 degrees, 7.2 degrees, and 10. 8 degrees respectively, indicating the superior insulation of EAF.
They showed the practicality of EAF by weaving a jumper and comparing its thermal insulation to
common textile materials.
As well as being strong and stretchable, EAF can also be washed and dyed, improving its use
in practical applications. Traditional silica aerogel will absorb water and collapse on itself. As a
result, it quickly loses its thermal insulation qualities in wet or humid environments. However, EAF
maintains its performance even after machine washing
Professor Zhang Xuetong of the Suzhou Institute of Nano-tech and Nano-bionics at the
Chinese Academy of Sciences, highlighted the poteritial of the aerogel fibres in advanced thermal
textiles. As well as its potential for civilian use, EAF fibre also holds promise for industries that are
already familiar with aerogels. "EAF textiles feature excellent thermal insulation and multifunction
and have great potential in areas such as mflitary nniforms and spacesuits in extremely cold
environments,"professor Zhang noted in a paper. However, he also noted the gap between existing
,
technology and capacity for mass production. 'Challenges exist regarding how to develop fas
spinning technology and resolve the continuous fabrication that is necessary for mass production
32. What is the characteristic of traditional aerogel?
A. It can be easily processed.
B. It is resistant to high temperatures
C. It is a solid cloud of smoke
D It can effectively insulate electricity
33. What is EAF's advantage in enduring extreme temperature oased on?
A. Research statistics.
B. Public comments
C. Scientific prediction
D. Commercial reports
34. Professor Zhang Xuetong's study found that massprodectuon could be possble if __.
A. advancement is made in thermal textiles
B. there exists need for continuous fabrication
C. barriers in fast spinning technology are overcome
D. aerogel's strengths and weaknesses get balanced
35. What is the text mainly about?
A. The development of aerogel fibre
B. The potential use of biomimetic fhbre
C. Great breakthrough in aerospace industry
D. China's newly-woven clothing made from aeroge

Have you ever noticed how some people canveffortlessly talk to anyone they meet, no matter
how different their backgrounds are? Or have you seen that one person who alwavs offends
someone, no matter what the topic of conversation is2 Thessttwo scenes show how we can differ in
our abilities to interact, get along with, and relate to others around us. 34
After- vears of academic research and development, this social competency is now commonly
referred to as "social intelligence". Do you want to improve your social intelligence? Here are grea
ideas with which to get started
Listen well and pay attention
2
Practice active listening so that you can fully engage and communicate with others. 37 It is
natural to want to respond to that text message that pops up on your phone immediately, even when
you're in the middle of a face-to-face conversation. Give people your full attention when speaking
with them. 38
Watch out for body language
1 39 Even if they aren't saying so, their feelings are truly revealed. Try to tune in to what the
other person is saying "physically". In the same way, be aware of your own body language and how
you are presenting yourself. If you slouch and appear physically uninterested during a conversation.
it may make the speakers lose confidence in what they are saying, resulting in a negative interaction
Show that you care
If you sense that someone is upset, or if someone tells you they are going through some
difficulties, show them you truly care. 40
A. Life is often fast paced, with many digital drstractions
B. Often, people's gestures will tell us a great deal about how they are feeling
C. Sharing other people's feelings can help you connect at a more meaningful level
D. People like to feel heard, and it will help you develop worthwhile relationships
E. The speaker fails to deliver a clear and objective message during his presentation
F. Engaging in a meaningful conversation can reduce loneliness and help reconnect with others
G. In the same way that we vary in traditional academic competencies, we can vary in how
socially competent we are

Dear Jack,
How is it going? I learned that you get upset easily and often lose your temper with your parents and classmates as a third-year high school student. I am writing to provide some suggestions to help you cope with your emotions.
Firstly, you can breathe deeply. If you take a few moments to focus on your breathing, you can find it will help you relax and clear your mind. Secondly, why not exercise? Doing physical activity is a great way to relieve stress and improve your mood. Finally, it is helpful to talk to someone such as a trusted friend, family member, or teacher who can provide support and encouragement.
The suggestions above are available to help you out. I hope they will navigate this challenging time for you.
Best wishes,
Yours, sincerely
Li Hua

“Then maybe think of a compromise.” suggested Gran. But I sobbed uncontrollably and couldn’t say a word. “Well, if you could let me go with you, I’d say yes.” My mom added. I wasn’t fond of my mom hanging around like a bodyguard, but to get to the party I had to a compromise. “I suppose your mother won’t disturb your party, will she?” Gran looked at mom with a kind smile. “Well, I promise I won’t.” Mom finally gave in to me. My mood gradually improved. I ran to my grandmother and gave her a big hug. I was looking forward to the wonderful party desperately.
The long-awaited beach party finally came. I made it at the beach with my mom. At a tree near the destination, mom stopped suddenly, taking out a red mat to sit on and signaling to me to join my friends. I rushed for the crowd. Joyful and excited, we sang, danced and chatted. Occasionally, the red mat in the near distance caught my eye. Mom held a book, leaning against the tree. The moment my eye fell on her, a wave of appreciation surged through me. It became dark when the party was over. I said goodbye to my friends and turned to mom. Under the tree sat mom waiting patiently. Tears of happiness blurring my eyes, I took her hand tightly, heading home.

The egg harvest is a brief, carefully designed agritourism experience...
根据第二段第二句“Snatching a few eggs and uprooting a few vegetables on the Farm tour don’t constitute a full day’s work, but it is also a useful reminder that food doesn’t just magically appear on restaurant plates and grocery store shelves.” 干扰项C,可从第二段最后一句“Visitors can take those eggs home or bring them to the on-farm restaurant, Clay, where a chef will use them to prepare breakfast”,可知,游客将鸡蛋带到农场餐饮,厨师会用这些鸡蛋准备食物,而不是游客们自已做饭。
C
根据倒数第二段第二句“...enterprising farmers have found plenty of opportunities to sell their rural lifestyle along with their crops...”

根据第二段最后一句“Its high porosity(多孔性) gives it exceptional heat resistance, but this also makes it fragile and challenging to process...” 干扰项C可从本段中“Traditional aerogel, made by replacing the liquid in aerogel with air, is extraordinarily light, resembling a solid cloud of smoke”得知,该材质只是轻似一团烟,并不是外表呈烟雾状。
D
作者在第四段重点阐述EFA的耐极端温度,使用的是列数字的写作手法用以证实该性能,如“...landing to -130 degrees Celsius (-202 degrees Fahrenheit) on the planet’s surface.”“... in a-20 degree Celsius environment...3.5 degrees, 3.8 degrees, 7.2 degrees, and 10.8 degrees respectively...”。所以选A。
D
根据最后一段最后两句“However, he also noted the gap between existing technology and capacity for mass production. “Challenges exist regarding how to develop fast spinning technology and resolve the continuous fabrication that is necessary for mass production”可知,无法批量生产主要原因在于快速纺织技术有待发展,持续制造的难题有待解决。故C为正确选项。
35. D 主旨题。本文主要讲述中国科学家用气凝胶织出冬季毛衣的重大突破。故选D。

语法填空
Welcome to springtime in Hangzhou, a medium-sized city of eight million people in Zhejiang Province, and home to the Lamborghini of China's green tea market: Longjing, known in English as Dragon Well. I'm here to watch the spring rush(高峰期) in action: over a few short weeks in March and April, planters will race against the sunrise to pick the early spring harvest, earning them a sizable(相当大的) amount of their annual income.
be home to...
High-end Dragon Well, tasting(taste ) like spring's first green vegetables accented by chestnuts(栗子) roasted (roast) with sugar, can sell for 15 to over a hundred dollars an ounce. Like coffee and wine, this tea has its obsessives(痴迷的,痴迷者), the kind of people who/that dig into details like the day when a tea was plucked(摘,拔) and which side of a hill it came from.
So it goes in China, where tea is daily(day)necessity. But when outsiders try to learn what all the fuss(大惊小怪) is about, they're usually confused by the complexity (complex)of fine tea, and a marketplace filled with misinformation doesn't do much to help. That's why I've made the journey to Hangzhou myself to learn how and why this little leaf from a plain-looking bush drives(drive)a whole economy wild.

【A篇】
根据介绍Queenstown Gardens的段落可知,“The Queenstown Gardens Trail is a wheelchair-accessible trail just a few minutes from central Queenstown.”,可知,此景点轮椅可以进入,因此对于残疾人而言,是最佳选择。故选C。
28. A目的意图题。通读第一段可知,该段主要描述了孩子和大人们在农场收集鸡蛋的情景;

38.D 该答案为前一句“Give people your full attention when speaking with them.”
40. C 最后一个建议为“Show that you care”, C选项中的Sharing others’ feelings 能理解别人能帮助你与之联系紧密。

M:Yes,that city's port, from which you just arrived,is an important link for Shanghai's trade. This critical route connects through Singapore, onto India and Africa, and ends in Italy or beyond.
W:I heard this port dates back to 1842—is that true?M:Exactly. Now,over 30 million units are processed yearly, with a couple thousand ships departing every month

M:In the future, many of our current jobs will be done by robots.
W:The future is closer than you think.Several of my friends were fired in a car factory, because robots are now replacing them.
M:Robots do offer better output(产量)for less cost.(11)They can operate all day and night.
W:This is true, but my friends are no longer earning any money.
M:Hopefully they will be able to find other jobs.
W:It is getting harder to find a job that will not be replaced in a few years' time.
M:This is true.I read a report that said in this decade,3%of jobs were at risk from machines.(12)
W:I read the same report. That number would jump to 33%during the next decade.(12)
M:Yes,but they also pointed out that robots and artificial intelligence could boost the global economy by $15 trillion.
W:Do you think they will replace lawyers like us?
M:Not anytime soon.
W:We have to work long hours, but at least we have job security.
Text 9
W:What do you think when you look through your telescope?
M:Well,I think about my job, which is to look into space, look at planets and discover what knowledge they offer.(13)
W:Yes,but what are your private thoughts about what you see?
M:That is a good question. What is your name?
W:Jenny.M:Well,Jenny, even after a quarter of a century in this job,I am still filled with wonder when I look at planets and stars.
W:Do you wonder whether there is life there?
M:It depends. When I look at Mars,Venus or the planet I am viewing today, the Moon,(14)I am pretty sure there is nothing living there.Further away…well, maybe.
W:At my school,we had a competition to draw what we thought a space creature would look like.
M:Ha-ha.That is fun,as long as it doesn't scare you too much.Because the fact is,scientists and explorers have never found evidence that such things exist.
W:Oh,I see.
M:So,Jenny, what will you and your friends be doing next?Going back to school,or going home?
W:I think we are going to have our lunch at the cafe here.(15)
M:Would you like to look through my telescope before you go?(16)
W:Ooh,yes please.(16)
Text 10
Dear diary,it's the 10th day of my bicycle journey from Beijing to Mongolia.(17)(19)Tomorrow will be one of the hardest days.To be honest,it's not the physical challenge of cycling 10 hours per day,nor is it the burning July sun in this desert-like part of northern China.(17)The real challenge is the loneliness of cycling for days without any company(陪伴).(18) The local people in the cities are so friendly, but I've only just been able to make friends with people who can speak English. But tomorrow morning I'll have to say goodbye to the lovely family that housed me.I stayed here for an extra two days after this family helped me order food at a restaurant and invited me to stay at their home.
(19)They generously offered me a ride around their town, and amazing introductions to local food and tradition.I'll miss them a lot as I continue riding north through the desert.I write this now,not just to motivate myself to continue, but to remind myself that each new friend I make on this trip could provide materials for my new book.(20) As I sit here, looking out into an empty desert road,I feel so thankful for the friends I've made and so inspired by the experience of traveling.
