专题03 阅读理解(记叙文) (2024·山东泰安·二模) William Shakespeare is considered the greatest writer in the English language and the greatest playwright to have ever lived. Born on the 26th of April, 1564, his complete works include 39 plays and 154 sonnets (十四行诗). His plays have been performed more than those of any playwright. Shakespeare was born to a successful glove maker in England. He was the eldest son and studied at King’s New School. The school focused heavily on teaching grammar through the Latin classic texts. This helped Shakespeare develop his abilities. Shakespeare produced most of his work between 1589 and 1613. He was a part-owner of a theatrical group who would perform his plays. They were called Lord Chamberlain’s Men. Eventually, they were recognized by the King and changed their name to the King’s Men. Shakespeare used this success to build one theatre and then buy an existing one. It was 1603 and Shakespeare was slowly becoming famous. His early plays are comedies with mystical elements (元素). For example, A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a clever and funny mixture of romance, fairy magic, and comic lowlife scenes. By the mid-1600s, he began writing and producing tragedies. A tragedy (悲剧) is a play that is based on human suffering but leaves a sense of pleasure in the audience (观众). This is considered Shakespeare at his peak. In his final years, Shakespeare wrote comedies without elements of romance and tragedy. Two of the most famous of these were Cymbeline and The Winter's Tale. Shakespeare had a great difference on theatre, literature, and music. His play Romeo and Juliet showed that romance was a worthy topic for a tragedy-themed play. Various phrases we use today were first said by Shakespeare. In fact, the person who was most quoted (引用) in the world’s first dictionary was Shakespeare, which made a huge difference. 1.When was Shakespeare slowly becoming famous? A.After 1564. B.After 1589. Then, this week, my daughter’s older washing machine also broke down. I tried to fix it myself, but it was beyond repair. I had to buy two new machines now. But then, a memory from my childhood came. I remembered watching my grandma use an old-fashioned washing machine to wash my dirty clothes. After washing the clothes, Grandma would touch the machine gently and lovingly. She thanked the machine because it did most of the work. In fact, the machine didn’t have a dehydration mode (脱水模式), so Grandma would squeeze out (挤出) every drop of water from each piece of clothing through a pair of rollers (滚轴). In my family, we all love each other, but even so, misunderstandings happen. One day, I was doing my homework in my room when my sister entered. And his interests were far different from mine. With no other kids of my age in the neighborhood. I had to spend hours by myself. A bright spot for me that turned out was reading. My love of the written word began early as my mother read to me every evening. I loved the colorful photographs in the books. I started reading books on my own before age 5 and my mother took me to the public library once a week to borrow several books. I quickly graduated from common children’s books to ones with fewer pictures and longer chapters. Reading opened new worlds to me. I wasn’t alone any longer. As I grew older, my mother also encouraged me to make what I wanted. I tried making toy cars with cardboard boxes and putting up buildings from rest cardboard and bits of wood my father gave me. When my mother saw my creations, she told me how creative my designs were. Thus, I began my lifelong interest in making things. I learned a lot about how to extend (延伸) the life of objects and change them into something new and useful. I did well in making things. And it was a trait (特点) that others found helpful. Soon I had friends who wanted to make things with me. Later, another habit I formed early was being outdoors. In the village, Mr. Thornton kept a store where he sold fruits of all kinds, including berries (莓子) when in season. One morning he said to Amy, “Well, Amy, I noticed some fine, ripe blackberries on Mr. Green’s farm today. He said that anybody was welcome to them. I will pay you 13 cents a kilogram for all you pick for me.” Amy was excited about the thought of making some money to help her mom, so she quickly ran home to get a basket to hold the berries. Then she thought she would like to know how much money she would get if she picked five kilograms. After finding out that she would get 65 cents, she started to dream big, “Supposing I should pick a dozen kilograms, how much should I make then?” “Dear me,” she exclaimed, after calculating a while, “I should make a dollar and fifty-six cents!” It took her some time to dream bigger, and then it was so near lunchtime that she had to stay at home until the afternoon. As soon as lunch was over, she took her basket and hurried to the farm. Some boys had been there before lunch, and all the ripe blackberries were picked. I went up to her and tried to give her money for something to eat, but she refused. She explained that if she had too much money on her, other homeless people might steal it while she was sleeping. I explained that I just wanted to help her and asked if I could buy her something warm. Again, she said no. She thanked me and said how thankful she was that I could offer help. We introduced ourselves, and she said that when I saw her next time, she would accept help. What an amazing woman! The lady taught me an important lesson: Not all homeless people accept money or help if they believe they’ve received enough that day. I look forward to meeting her again. Walking out into the cold night, I met a homeless man who was freezing (冻僵的). I gave the money to him. He appeared to have had a drinking problem, but I was glad that he accepted my help. I left with a special feeling. I always try to understand what it’s like to be in a homeless person’s shoes or to imagine if they were my children facing such difficulties. I learned how lucky I am and how thankful I should be for what I have. 145.Why didn’t the homeless woman accept the writer’s money? A.Because she worried other homeless people might steal it. B.Because she already had a trolley of food to eat. C.Because she didn’t want the writer to look down on her. 146.What lesson did the writer learn from the homeless woman? (2024·山东日照·二模) School bullying is increasingly becoming a problem, but the move by Aofeng School in Fuzhou, capital of Fujian province, to install (安装) an alarm system inside toilets to catch bullying is getting a lot of attention. The alarm system has been installed insensitive (敏感的) places such as toilets and it uses voice recognition (识别) and sensitive word activation (激活), so that if someone is being bullied the system can alert (警示) the school staff by sending out specific signals. The system uses AI for voice recognition, but its effectiveness (有效性) doesn’t only depend on these technologies. More important than the technology are the school staff who need to respond quickly to the specific signals. In most cases of school bullying, educators have overlooked early warning signs, allowing the situation to be out of control. And that can sometimes lead to a terrible outcome. Returning to the system in Fuzhou, the school has suggested that the move is still in its experimental phase (实验阶段) and will be carried out once it is further improved. If the system proves effective, the government may consider introducing similar systems in other schools to stop bullying. However, it is important for them to remember that it is human action, not just technology that can help solve this serious problem. Technology can certainly serve as a necessary tool, but it is the human element (因素)—focused attention, care, and timely prevention—that finally holds the key to creating a safer environment for all students. 149.What’s the writer’s purpose in writing Paragraph 1? A.To raise a question. B.To explain a problem. C.To lead in the topic. D.To introduce can alarm system. 150.What does the underlined word “overlook” mean? A.The move by Aofeng in Fuzhou is a great success. B.More schools will use the alarm system in the future. C.Students’ safety will depend mainly on technology. D.People play a more important role in stopping bullying. (2024·山东济南·二模)When I was a girl growing up, I couldn’t once ever remember either my mum or my grandma wasting food. Anything we didn’t eat at one meal was leftovers (剩菜). I can remember my grandma making a huge pot of potatoes. We would all eat until we were full enough, but there were always about half of the potatoes leftover. A few days later, Grandma would take those potatoes out of the fridge, boil some noodles, add some vegetables and mix them all together. And I also remember when I watched my mum fry bacon (煎培根) for us in the mornings, she would always take the oil carefully and pour it into a bottle. Then she would use it later to add flavor (香味) to so many other dishes. I was already an adult when I realized that potatoes didn’t taste like bacon at all! I learned their lessons well, and after I grew up, I tried to never waste food myself. But eating leftovers is bad for the health after all. So I always planned the week’s meals ahead of time and only bought what was on my shopping list so that nothing went to waste. And of course, we didn’t have to eat any leftovers. Every meal went into our stomachs. To me, throwing food into the bin was just wrong. However, when it comes to living, there are no leftovers. Life is just like a feast. Live each moment of your life to the fullest, then. 153.What did the writer’s grandma use the leftover potatoes to do? A.Mix with noodles. B.Boil fish soup. C.Fry bacon. D.Throw away. 154.Why did the potatoes cooked by the mum taste like bacon? A.She poured the bacon oil into potatoes. B.She put potatoes on the plate. C.She was good at cooking. D.She mixed the bacon with potatoes. 155.How did the writer save food in her way? A.By shopping ahead of time. B.By throwing it into the litter bin. C.By following her mother’s shopping list. D.By planning the next week’s food. 156.What does the underlined word “feast” in the last paragraph probably mean? A.A sweet dream. B.A large meal. C.A happy story. D.A beautiful picture. 157.What can we learn from the last two paragraphs? A.It is never too old to learn. B.Eat to live, but not live to eat. C.Neither food nor life should be wasted. D.There is no such thing as a free lunch. 原创精品资源学科网独家享有版权,侵权必究!18 原创精品资源学科网独家享有版权,侵权必究!17 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 专题03 阅读理解(记叙文) (2024·山东泰安·二模) William Shakespeare is considered the greatest writer in the English language and the greatest playwright to have ever lived. 1. When was Shakespeare slowly becoming famous? A.After 1564. B.After 1589. C.After 1603. D.After 1613. 2.What can you learn from Paragraph 4? A.His final plays are all comedies with mystical elements. B.Tragedies by Shakespeare were made by the 1600. C.A Midsummer Night’s Dream has mystical elements. As he drank it, the colour returned to his cheeks. “I am taking over this ship, Mr Hands,” I said. “You will treat me as your Captain Jim.” He looked at me sourly, but he could do nothing. I then took down the Jolly Roger flag and threw it into the sea. “You want to get ashore (海岸), now you need my help.” said Hands, “Tie up my wound, then I’ll tell you how to sail the ship.” “I want to get to North Inlet.” Hands agreed to help me, and the Hispaniola was sailing along the coast of Treasure Island. I tied up the knife wound in his leg with a cloth. After eating and drinking, he looked better. We soon arrived at the North Inlet. Hands was very good at guiding me in, we turned into the beach, and came easily to have a rest. I was busy bringing the ship in and forgot to watch Hands. When I turned around, Hands was standing behind me, his knife ready. I quickly climbed up the ropes and prepared both my guns. “One more move, I’ll kill you! Mr Hands.” I shouted. See, I’d never really minded teachers. I always got along with them just fine. At the same time, I never really felt like I could relate to any of them either. They were friendly and they taught just fine. I never saw a reason to do the work. If my teacher didn’t care enough about me to ask why things weren’t getting done, then why should I do them? Then, I started taking a class with Mrs. Davis as my teacher. When I didn’t do the work, she asked why. She cared. She wanted to know me more than the other teachers seemed to. She was sitting inside the shop to keep warm.
