You probably laugh at cats playing. They move on leaves or run after one another. They knock one another over and nip (捏) at necks and tails. You think to yourself, “Aren’t they cute?” But these young animals are really going to “school” while they play. At a time when their brains are growing, play helps the brain send messages to the muscles (肌肉). It strengthens (加强) balance and muscle control. In play, baby animals practice behaviors they’ll need as adults.
These behavior are not as important in animals that are kept as pets. But in the wild, behaviors learned in play can mean the difference between life and death. For example, baby sheep or deer may suddenly rush away and run across the grass or through a forest for no clear reason. They are actually practicing a behavior that might escape (逃跑) from a wolf or mountain lion later on.
Wolf and lion babies need to practice, too. They pretend (假装) to hunt. They carefully follow their “prey”.
Then they move, nipping and pawing (抓) at something until they’ve “caught” it. If these baby animals don’t learn how to hunt when they’re young, they may not be able to feed themselves as adults.
Play is especially important for animals that live in groups. Some baby monkeys spend as much as half their waking hours in play. They are learning how to “win” and “lose” games and make-believe fights. But they are also learning how to get along with other members of their group.

Most of the money today is made of metal or paper. 74 One of the first kinds of money was shells (贝壳).

The first metal coins were made in China. They were round and had a square hole in the center. 75
Different countries have used different metals and designs for their money. 76 Sweden and Russia used copper (铜) to make their money. Later some countries began to make coins of gold and silver.

63.How many kinds of animals are mentioned in the passage?
A.3. B.4. C.5. D.6.
64.What does “going to school” in Paragraph 1 mean?
A.Thinking to oneself. B.Learning skills

A.To practice hunting B.To learn to escape.
C.To knock partners over. D.To learn make-believe fights.

A.A close friend. B.A game player.

A.Young animals playing during group games is interesting.
B.Young animals playing is not only for fun but for practice.

73 People use money to buy food, furniture, books, bicycles and hundreds of other things they need or want. When they work, they usually get paid in money.
Most of the money today is made of metal or paper. 74 One of the first kinds of money was shells (贝壳).
Shells were not the only things used as money. In China, cloth and knives were used. In the Philippine Islands, rice was used as money for a long time. Elephant tusks (象牙), monkey tails and salt were used as money in parts of Africa.
The first metal coins were made in China. They were round and had a square hole in the center. 75
Different countries have used different metals and designs for their money. 76 Sweden and Russia used copper (铜) to make their money. Later some countries began to make coins of gold and silver.
But even gold and silver were inconvenient if you had to buy something expensive. Again the Chinese thought of a way to improve money. 77 The first paper money looked more like a note from one person to another than the paper money used today.

Labor plays a more and more important role in our daily life. Labor is the most glorious. I think it’s good for our health. We can relax ourselves. At the same time, we can learn some important life skills from labor.
At home I often do some chores, such as cleaning the floor, washing the dishes, making the bed, cooking meals and so on. At school, I often help teachers or other classmates do some cleaning. Besides these, I still take some activities in the community.
