A man took a little too long to complete his PhD. While a majority of PhD programmes are 1 to be finished in five or six years, a 76-year-old student who studied for a PhD in1970 completed it after 50 years.
Dr. Nick Axten received a scholarship for a PhD in mathematical sociology in 1970 at the
University of Pittsburgh. 2 , he returned to the UK after 5 years with an unfinished PhD.
