1.What does the author want to tell us? 2.What is the story mainly about? 3.Who is the main character of the story and who are the secondary characters? 4.What is the theme revealed to you in the story? 5.What lesson can you learn from the story? 6.Can you predict how the story ends after reading it? 1.What is likely to happen according to the last paragraph of the text and the given sentence of Paragraph 1? 2.According to the given sentence of Paragraph 1, what should be mentioned at the end of Paragraph 1? 3.According to the given sentence of Paragraph 2, what will happen next? 4.What should be mentioned at the end of the story? 5.What might be the ending of the story? 6.Are you satisfied with the ending of the story? 7.Do you think it logical to end the story in this way? 5W1H(who, what, when, where, why, how)设问法,挑选紧扣文章主题并推动故事情节发展的关键要素,完善故事内容。 What did he/she do? Why did he/she do ... ? How did he/she do ... ? What did he/she say about it? How did he/she feel? Reading about the marathon brought back a flood of memories from my first marathon. It was an experience that I will truly never forget as long as I live. I'll sum it up by saying this, my first marathon was the toughest physical challenge of my life and I was not prepared for all of the things that my body would do and feel during the race. I was living in Birmingham at the time. My parents came to Birmingham for the race weekend and my best friend Meghan called to encourage me. Several of my coworkers were doing the half marathon and we all planned to meet up before the race and to run the half together. It was so nice to have friends to run the first half of the race with. It was a great distraction to chat and really motivating to have friends running alongside of me. The crowd support was also great the first loop around the course. I was all smiles when I broke off from my friends at mile 12. I met my family and friends to pick up my iPod since I ran without it for the first half of the race. At this point I felt like I really needed to find a restroom but it was a couple of miles before that happened. My stomach was really starting to suffer at this point in the race. By mile 15 my body was still hanging strong (minus the stomach issues) but my mental state was starting to slip. My hands were swelling so I handed off my rings to my dad. I was pretty much running on my own at this point since the majority of the racers were half marathoners. There were long stretches during the race where I was running solo through the downtown industrial streets of Birmingham. One thing that saved me was how much I was able to see my family on the course. They were amazing and managed to catch me at least 5-6 times. This is a benefit of a smaller race and a double loop (环形线路) course. For the last 6 miles I tried to keep my mind off the fact that I was dying. I was just hanging up the phone when I tripped to the ground. However, I have always believed that girls need to be brave above all else, but this is easier said than done. I still remember I couldn't see the screen directly when my daughter switched to the animal channel, which was broadcasting a show about snakes. I stood as far away from the TV as possible, too scared to open my eyes. However, my little angel was not scared of the snakes. In fact, she watched the show with a keen interest. I was relieved that my daughter didn't get too many genetic phobias Even to this day, she is still obsessed (痴迷) with challenging herself with new things. This year, I got a chance to study in Singapore for six months. After the novelty of the first few days had gone, I found myself missing my family. With the summer vacation approaching, my husband agreed to make good use of the fact that I was staying in Singapore. He brought our daughter out to visit me and to enjoy the new experience in a new country. The reunion day finally came. My husband and my daughter arrived in the second week of July. I was so looking forward to seeing them. I had made many preparations for their visit. On the first day, I arranged for us to see Gardens by the Bay. When we walked out of the MRT station, we were amazed by the sight of the Super Trees. When my daughter saw lots of people walking on the Skyway, she couldn't help shouting excitedly that she wanted to have a try. The Skyway is a 22meterhigh suspension bridge from which you can enjoy a bird's eye view. Last time I came here with my friends, I firmly rejected their repeated attempts to challenge me to go up there. It was like the day with the snakes all over again. But could I really reject my little angel? My daughter was waiting for my reply. Halfway across the bridge, I had to stop. Para.1 伏笔句:However,__I__have__always__believed__that__girls__need__to__be__brave__above__all__else,__but__this__is__easier__said__than__done. 关键信息词:be brave above all else; this is easier said than done Para.2 伏笔句:I stood as far away from the TV as possible, too scared to open my eyes. However, my little angel was not scared; she is still obsessed (痴迷) with challenging herself with new things. 关键信息词:too scared to open my eyes; challenging herself with new things Para.3 伏笔句:He__brought__our__daughter__out__to__visit__me__and__to__enjoy__the__new__experience__in__a__new__country. 关键信息词:enjoy the new experience in a new country Para.4 伏笔句:I had made many preparations for their visit. When my daughter saw lots of people walking on the Skyway, she couldn't help shouting excitedly that she wanted to have a try. But__could__I__really__reject__my__little__angel? 关键信息词:made many preparations; couldn't help shouting excitedly; have a try [思首句 顺情节] 理顺情节可以提高续写部分与所给句子的融合度。 My daughter was waiting for my reply. 问题链1: 1.What would I have in my mind first? 2.What__would__be__my__reply? 3.How did I make my first step on the bridge? Halfway across the bridge, I had to stop. 问题链2: 1.Why__did__I__have__to__stop? 2.How did I overcome my fear and finish my walk? 3.What did I learn from the experience? [精彩范文] My daughter was waiting for my reply. I looked at her, then at the Skyway. I felt my heart threatening to burst out from my chest. But my daughter kept begging me and I could not bear to reject her. Bravery was the most significant quality that I wanted her to possess. Her curiosity was so strong that I couldn't resist. I nodded slightly, and my daughter's frowning face slowly broke into a smile. I plucked up my courage and took my first step onto the suspension bridge. I inched forward, all the way holding on tight to the handrail. Halfway across the bridge, I had to stop. I stood there, and my legs trembled despite my fruitless attempt to stay calm. My heart beat wildly when I cast scared glances down the bridge. Just then, I heard a familiar voice, and two little hands slipped into my arm. Looking down, I saw my little angel's bright smile, which encouraged me to finish the walk. Eventually, we reached the end together. My husband was surprised at my nerve, but I knew the reason I had felt so brave was for my little girl. 表示“高兴” ①tears of excitement/happiness pour down one's cheeks 激动/快乐的泪水盈满面庞; And those others are stopping it diving or fleeing out to sea,” George told me, pointing towards the hunt. 7.“ ... and the others are having a good feed on its lips and tongue,” added Red, laughing. 8.“Man overboard! Turn the boat around!” urged George, shouting loudly. 1.He ran down the stairs, breathing heavily. 2.He walked swiftly, resisting the urge to break into a run. 3.He came running along with quick feet full of joy. 4.“I'll never forgive you for this,” Jane added and marched off without a backward glance. 5.He slipped out of the building without anybody noticing it. 6.He paced back and forth in the room, like a wild animal in a cage, shouting “ ... 1.Margery sat on the doorstep, and wondered, as the sea sounded louder, and the sunshine grew warmer around her. 2.I can smell the sweet flowers in the garden. Someday, when I am older and have children of my own, I hope I can be just as great a parent as my mom. 5.The precious tricycle not only helped me through that tough period, but also carried Father's love forward into the far, far future. 6.Checking the precious pictures on my camera, I cracked a smile. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Isn't it? Never before in history has a city been so completely destroyed. Never in all San Francisco's history were her people so kind as on that terrible night. 2.开头:A funny thing happened to Arthur when he was on the way to work one day. What a funny day! So when he thumbed up with a rare big grin, it suddenly dawned on me that we were to become kind of lifelong friends./Even better, I received a precious gift—the approval of a person who later became my friend for life. 1.人物动作的画面定格 ①His hard work paid off! Holding the soda tin firmly, Reuben rushed for the shop to buy the brooch. The moment he got the beautiful brooch, he burst through the front door and placed it in Dora's hand. Never had Dora received such a gift. He declared aloud,“Who cares? He wanted me to have it anyway. I might as well enjoy it now.” With that, he unwrapped the white tissue paper, but to his surprise, there was no hard rock candy inside. Instead, into his fingers fell a shiny white pearl worth thousands of dollars. 2.Too late to apologize, she realized with grief, that she was the rude one, the ingrate, the thief! How many times have we absolutely known that something was a certain way, only to discover later that what we believed to be true was not? 3.A greater surprise was waiting for her. 4.“Is that you, Paul?” his partner opened the door, “What the hell is going on?” Paul struggled to his feet, saying, “Oh, it's a long story.” Seeing sth, sb felt as if it had been doing ... and saying ... Seeing the suitcase, Arthur felt as if it had been praising him, “You did a great job!” Seeing the tent, I felt as if it had been sighing and saying, “I want to experience the outside world.” Seeing the paper bag, I felt as if it had been reminding me that I should pass on the kindness that the Mexican family offered me every time I meet someone in need. 1.Just follow your heart and you'll be happy. 2.We will be successful as long as we keep working hard. 3.Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart. 4.A little bit kindness will be rewarded with a large amount of benefit. 5.My patience and love let him believe that the world is full of kindness. 6.Love everybody because that's the greatest thing you can give and it is the start of your life trip. 7.No matter how ordinary a job is, it plays a part in society and therefore deserves our due respect. 8.The harder you work, the greater progress you will make. 9.As everybody knows, the lazier a person is, the more things he needs to do tomorrow. 10.Cold as the rain was, great warmth filled his heart like never before. 11.True love is the most invaluable thing in the world. 12.So say goodbye to the past and embrace the present. 13.It dawned on me that we should always be an honest person whatever situations we are in. 14.I am firmly convinced that the slight power of every person can make our country more prosperous. 15.All the students come to realize that everyone wants and deserves to be treated with respect, dignity and warmth. 16.It is not how much we do but how much love we put into what we do that benefits our work most. 17.I realize the secret to success is not when or where you were born, but what you are doing and how you do it in your life. 18.The gift you give is not something your loved one keeps, but a voluntary contribution towards the people who really need it in their lives. 明喻 和as ... as相关的词块 as soft as water 柔情似水 as drunk as a mouse 烂醉如泥 as weak as water 弱不禁风 as clear as crystal 清如水晶 as unique as a fingerprint 独一无二 和like相关的词块 like a duck to water 如鱼得水 like a rat in a hole 如瓮中之鳖 like a drowned cat 像落汤鸡 like a cat on hot bricks 像热锅上的蚂蚁 like looking for a needle in a haystack 犹如大海捞针 1.His heart is as hard as a stone. 2.Her soul is as pure as snow. 3.He didn't think he could go any further: His legs felt like pieces of wood—heavy and stiff. 4.The parents' instructions were of little use to the boy, just like water off a duck's back. 5.Tired from a whole day's journey, she slept like a log. 6.I couldn't move my legs. One of the major headaches for her was finding her way in the huge school building. It was a sixstory building. On each floor, hallways stretched in four directions, leading to classrooms, laboratories, and teachers' offices. Somewhere in the building, there was also a library, a cafeteria, and a gym. Having a poor sense of direction, Eva found it impossible to get around in such a huge building. All the different hallways and rooms were too much to think about, let alone commit to memory. She decided that she would memorize where her classes were and then pretend that the rest of the place didn't exist. In her first PE class, Eva was shocked when Coach Pitt announced that everyone had to run one mile around the track outside. She searched the faces of her classmates for signs of panic. There was nothing she feared more than having to run a whole mile. To Eva, “a mile” was used to describe long distances. It was ten miles from her home to her grandfather's, and that always seemed like a long way, even in a car! When Coach Pitt blew his whistle (哨子), Eva figured she would be left in the dust. However, while some of her classmates edged ahead, others actually fell behind. “It's just the beginning,” she thought. “I'll come in last for sure.” Soon Eva began to breathe hard, with her heart pounding and legs shaking. Feeling desperate, Eva started using a mind trick on herself. She stopped thinking about the word “mile”. Instead, she focused on reaching the shadow cast on the track by an oak tree up ahead. Then she concentrated on jogging to the spot where the track curved (拐弯). After that, she tried to see if she could complete her first lap. One lap turned into two, then three, then four. When Coach Pitt said “Nice work!” to her at the finish line, Eva was surprised. Eva decided to use the same trick to deal with the school building. [精彩范文] When Coach Pitt said “Nice work!” to her at the finish line, Eva was surprised. Despite her initial doubts, she had not only completed the mile but had also kept pace with many of her classmates. Her heart still pounded from the exertion, and her legs were weak, but she felt a sense of accomplishment. Breaking the frightening distance into smaller, achievable targets had made the impossible possible. She realized that focusing on immediate, reachable goals, like the next bend in the track or the shadow of a tree, had distracted her from the overwhelming idea of the mile. Eva decided to use the same trick to deal with the school building. Instead of being intimidated by its enormity, she broke it up into manageable sections. First, she focused on memorizing the route from the entrance to her first class. Gradually, she added other landmarks—the library, the cafeteria, the gym—to her mental map. Day by day, what was once complex became a series of familiar pathways. Mirroring her success on the track, mastering the layout of the school marked yet another step in her journey towards self-confidence and adaptability. I parked my car outside the farm and walked past a milking house which had apparently not been used in many years. A noise at a window caught my attention, so I entered it. It was a hummingbird (蜂鸟), desperately trying to escape. She was covered in spiderwebs (蛛网) and was barely able to move her wings. She ceased her struggle the instant I picked her up. With the bird in my cupped hand, I looked around to see how she had gotten in. The broken window glass was the likely answer. I stuffed a piece of cloth into the hole and took her outside, closing the door securely behind me. When I opened my hand, the bird did not fly away; she sat looking at me with her bright eyes. I removed the sticky spiderwebs that covered her head and wings. Still, she made no attempt to fly. Perhaps she had been struggling against the window too long and was too tired? Or too thirsty? As I carried her up the blackberrylined path toward my car where I kept a water bottle, she began to move. I stopped, and she soon took wing but did not immediately fly away. Hovering (悬停), she approached within six inches of my face. For a very long moment, this tiny creature looked into my eyes, turning her head from side to side. Then she flew quickly out of sight. During the cookout, I told my hosts about the hummingbird incident. They promised to fix the window. As I was departing, my friends walked me to my car. I was standing by the car when a hummingbird flew to the center of our group and began hovering. She turned from person to person until she came to me. She again looked directly into my eyes, then let out a squeaking call and was gone. For a moment, all were speechless. Then someone said, “She must have come to say goodbye.” A few weeks later, I went to the farm again. I was just about to leave when the hummingbird appeared. [精彩范文] A few weeks later, I went to the farm again. The same dilapidated house, the same gigantic spiderweb, the same green blackberry path. “Will the hummingbird be the same? Will this lovely and humanistic creature be trapped in the web again? Not likely, since the hole in the window had been fixed.” These questions and thoughts popped into my head like strands of spider thread. With smell of roasted food wafting in the air, my friends and I chatted and laughed merrily around the picnic table. It seemed the hummingbird was temporarily thrown to the back of my mind. Soon, the sun began to set and it was time for home. I was just about to leave when the hummingbird appeared. It perched on a small twig just an inch before me and studied me with the same sparkling and pleasant eyes. In an ecstasy of delight, I held out my fingers for it to rest and we communicated with our halfhuman, halfbird language. My teary friends were all deeply struck by the profound bond between a little bird and her saver. Is there magic power existing in this world? It must be the universal love that surpassed beyond any species, as was the case with my sacred hummingbird and me. Some of my friends had signed up to spend time at a soup kitchen, so I did, too. It seemed like a good thing to do. I thought that we would just be passing out dinners to those in need, but I found out we would be doing everything from preparing to serving the dinner. We began preparing the food, from mixing salad dressing to separating frozen meat. Much still needed to be done before dinner was served, but already outside the building many homeless people were gathering. It wasn't until a couple of hours later that we opened the doors and began serving dinner. As the line of people came toward me, I got a little scared. I'd come face to face with the homeless: How should I act? How would they treat me? Would they hate me for having more than they did? While some of the people looked very friendly, some of them looked so dangerous. I didn't have too much time to worry about it. I was assigned (分配) to serve the salad with the lady next to me. She smiled at me and said if I needed help, she'd be right there, which I found quite comforting. I had never seen so many people wanting food. They were of all ages and nationalities. Most of them wore clothes that were torn and dirty. Some looked like they had totally given up on life, while others seemed to be making the best of the situation, smiling and joking. Some were better off than others, but they all needed a good meal and a warm place to eat. It saddened me to think of how many people there were who didn't have a place to call home and the only food they got came from a soup kitchen. As they came in my direction, I put on my brightest and happiest smile. I was so happy that I had earned my service hours in this way. [精彩范文] As they came in my direction, I put on my brightest and happiest smile. Contrary to what I had thought, some of those homeless people who looked unapproachable at first sight actually were rather friendly. They would smile broadly back at me to show their gratitude when they were served, which immediately put me at case. Brimming with confidence, along with the comforting smile of the lady beside me. I was quickly engaged in the busy work, forgetting all about the negative thoughts. A great sense of happiness and relief flooded over me. I was so happy that I had earned my service hours in this way. I had also learned a lifelong lesson in being grateful and optimistic. Seeing those in need, who had no access to enough food or clean clothes, we have every reason to treasure our life and offer a helping hand whenever possible. Even a small act of kindness can make a big difference. In addition, their smile-to-life attitude even in such tough situations also inspired me to overcome any difficulties in life.
