第二部分 人与社会 主题群四 文学、艺术与体育 主题语境15 小说、戏剧、诗歌、传记、文学简史、经典演讲、文学名著等 Ⅰ.阅读理解 School is important for children and parents everywhere, and there are a lot who take the education of youth very seriously. Parents want their children to succeed, and a lot of children want to do well in school. A new study, which was done by Brigham Young University, has found that students perform better in school if they go on more cultural field trips. Field trips have always been seen as fun for students, and they look forward to their chances to get out of the classroom and go somewhere fun. But field trips can be difficult for teachers to plan, because they need to make sure that there is learning and value included. Some have argued about the worth of field trips, and whether they are worth a student missing a whole day out of school. However, Heidi Erickson, one of the researchers in the study, stated that there is no harm in taking students out of the classroom, even for multiple days throughout the year, as long as they are learning and in an appropriate space. The study had 4th and 5thgrade students from 15 schools take part in this study. They went on three cultural field trips during the school year, to an art museum, a live theater performance, and a classical concert. Then the researchers looked at their school year compared to students who did not take part and this is where they saw the difference. The study found that students who went on multiple field trips a year had higher test scores, performed better in class and had a greater cultural responsibility over time when compared to students who did not go on as many field trips. Although there has been a remarkable decrease in the number of field trips due to various reasons, this new study is showing the true value of field trips, especially when they are considered “cultural”. 1.Why is it hard for teachers to plan field trips? A.Teachers are concerned about the price. B.Teachers don't believe in the worth of field trips. C.Students have to miss a whole day out of school. D.Teachers have to ensure students' meaningful experiences. 2.What is Heidi Erickson's attitude to cultural field trips? A.Skeptical. B.Favorable. C.Concerned. D.Tolerant. 3.How did the researchers draw the conclusion? A.By asking students questions. B.By taking field trips themselves. C.By doing surveys among teachers. D.By comparing different groups of students. 4.What is the main idea of the text? A.Cultural field trips improve students' grades. B.Students perform better in an appropriate space. C.Why cultural field trips are popular with students. D.Why the number of students' field trips is dropping. When Dad forgot about the pizza and it burned, Ittleby comforted him by saying it would still taste good. And he was right. The pizza edges were dark and crispy, but the middle wasn't half bad. When Ittleby's friend David got a low score on the spelling test, Ittleby said that he would do better next time. And, sure enough, David studied hard and got 100 percent the next week. When his teacher, Mr. D, bumped into a bookstand in the library, Ittleby told him not to worry as Mrs Bog wouldn't be upset. He was right. The librarian just laughed and helped pick up the books. Ittleby looked on the bright side. And everyone liked that about him. Everyone, that is, except Hazel. Hazel was the new kid in the class. On her first day, Ittleby said, “Nice to meet you, Hazel. I think you'll like it here.” Hazel stared at him. “I doubt it.” Ittleby didn't know what to do. He'd never met anyone like Hazel. When Mr. D said they'd have recess (休息) inside because of the rain, Ittleby said, “Every cloud has a silver lining.” “A silver lining?” Hazel shook her head. “Clouds are white. Maybe gray. Where do you get this stuff?” Ittleby felt as if the wind had been knocked out of him. Outside the window, the clouds had rolled over the sun. The room felt darker. “Bad things come in threes,” said Hazel. “No outdoor recess is number one. What will the second thing be?” The class didn't have to wait long to find out. Greta was carrying a tray (托盘) of paints during art class. She tripped (绊倒), and the paint went flying. There was blue on the floor and red and black on the walls. Hazel declared it to be the second bad thing. Ittleby didn't know what to say. Hazel seemed so sure about the Rule of Three Bad Things. Emma came to look at Ittleby's painting. “It's beautiful. I especially like the grassland.” she said. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。 She picked it up, not realizing she had paint on her fingers.___________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ “Want to add one?” Ittleby asked Hazel, holding the painting in his hands.________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ [参考范文] She picked it up, not realizing she had paint on her fingers. Hazel pointed and said, “Ittleby's picture is messed up! There's number three.” Instead of being angry, Ittleby said, “If I add wings, the fingerprints could look like butterflies.” Slowly and carefully, Ittleby added wings to all the fingerprints. Miraculously, there were butterflies on the painting. Then Ittleby said, “Hey, let's make a sea of butterflies. Everyone dip a finger into the paints, and make a butterfly on my painting.” Everyone was excited and left a fingerprint on Ittleby's painting. A sea of colorful butterflies appeared. But only Hazel didn't make one. “Want to add one?” Ittleby asked Hazel, holding the painting in his hands. Hazel thought about it, and then nodded. She dipped her finger into the yellow paint and gently pressed it onto Ittleby's painting. She carefully added wings, trying her best not to mess Ittleby's painting. She made a really beautiful butterfly with a broad smile. “It looks great,” said Ittleby. In fact, bad things happen, but good things happen, too. And sometimes, there are good things hiding where you don't expect them. 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
