Warming-up & Pre-reading The teacher has students listen to the poem The Road Not Taken and discuss the questions: 1. What images come to your mind when you are listening? 2. What should we pay attention to while appreciating a poem? Step 2. 1st Reading 1. The teacher has students read the article, analyze the structure and summarize the main idea of each part. 2. The teacher has students find out the different forms of English poems. Step 3. 2nd Reading 1. The teacher has students read paragraph 1 to find the two important points . 2. The teacher has students summarize the characteristics of each form of poems. Different forms Characteristics Nursery rhyme List poem Cinquain Haiku Tang poem Step 4. 3rd Reading 1. The teacher has students read and appreciate Nursery rhyme. The teacher encourages students to read Poem A and answer the questions: 1) Can you find the words with the same rhyme? 2) Can you find the patterns with a repetition? The teacher has students summarize the characteristics of nursery rhyme.
