教学设计 课程基本信息 学科 英语 年级 高二 学期 秋季 课题 Book 4 Unit 1 After twenty years Reading 教学目标 By the end of this class, students will be able to : 1. analyse the plot of the short story； 2. identify the writing techniques of the short story； 3. appreciate the ending of the short story； 4. develop a deeper understanding about honesty and responsibility. 教学内容 教学重点： 1. analyzing the plot of the short story； 2. focusing on the descriptions of main characters. 教学难点： 1. identifying the writing techniques of the story； 2. exploring factors making the surprise ending reasonable. 教学过程 Step one: Warming-up activities 1).Have Ss enjoy a short video featuring a brief conversation between the judge and the defendant. 2).Ask Ss the following questions: ①Why did the man break down at last? (Because the man (defendant ) was recognized to be the judge’s old friend in middle school and the two friends recalled their middle school life, when the man was a nice kid. But when they met again after many years, it’s a totally different story. The lady became a judge while the man became a criminal on trial, which made the man break down.) ②What does the video tell us? (It tells us time can change someone we know.) [设计思路]：利用一段“法庭审判中法官与站在被告席的罪犯相认，结果导致被告情绪崩溃”的视频导入主题，并引发学生思考“时间是否会改变一个人？”为接下来通过标题和插图预测故事内容做准备。 Step two: Reading activities Activity 1. Reading the title and illustrations Ask Ss to read the title and illustrations to predict what the story is about. [设计思路]:引导学生阅读标题和插图猜测故事内容或主题，激活学生已有的认知和经验，形成阅读期待。 Activity 2. Reading for key elements ①Have Ss read the story to find out six key elements (5W1H): who, when, where, what, how, why. ②Have Ss answer the question: How are these elements connected? [设计思路]：利用故事要素分析（5W1H）的方式快速提取、梳理故事的基本信息。引导学生思考“How are these elements connected?”这一问题，从而认识到plot的重要作用，为下一步情节分析做准备。 Activity 3.Reading for plot Introduce the definition of PLOT and its five main parts (introduction, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution) and analyze them one by one
