Now let’s read the passage and find out why humans might live on Mars.
About Mars
Located at an average distance from the Sun of 228 million kilometres, Mars is the fourth planet of the Solar System. It is also known as the Red Planet, because of its distinctive colour.
Mars is slightly more than half the size of Earth, with correspondingly lower gravity. It is a dry, rocky planet, with white polar “ice” caps that consist mostly of frozen carbon dioxide.
Since the 1960s, Mars has been the subject of several unmanned exploration missions. China’s Tianwen-1 Mars probe was launched successfully on 23 July 2020 and the Mars rover Zhurong successfully landed on the Red Planet on 15 May 2021 and then sent back its first images from the surface of Mars.
