Write down your problem and Susan will give you advice. This week's letter is from eleven-year-old Alan/in Salisbury, the UK.
Dear Susan,
Last month, we moved to a new town. My parents quickly made friends with our next-door neighbors. They've got a son--Mike. He's one year older than me. Mike is friendly to me and often invites me to do things with him. But the thing is, when we see other kids, he calls their nicknames and makes them angry. He wants me to join in, but I don't want to.ing6
What can I do? If I tell my parents, it'll be hard because they really like his parents. And to be honest, I don't have other friends here. If I stop hanging out with him, maybe he'll start calling me names, too. What should I do? Can you give me some advice?
Alan
Dear Alan,
It's often difficult to make new friends when you move to a new place. Why not ask yourself a question? Do you want to be friends with Mike if his behavior (行为) is better? If your answer is no,end the friendship now. Don't worry. I'm sure you'll soon make lots of friends when you start school. If your answer is yes, talk to him about the nicknames-calling and explain that he had better stop it. If he's going to be a good friend, he'll listen to you. If he ignores(忽视)you, then this friendship probably isn't going to work.
Finally ,it's a good idea to talk to your parents. They know you best and are often the best people to give you advice.
Good luck!
Susan
