During your video chats with the family, the kids couldn’t sit still or have any meaningful dialogue before walking away. Nor would they watch the awkward videos you made of yourself reading a favorite book. Now there's an interactive storytelling app born out of those problems that is changing the nature of how stories are shared with loved ones.
Zoog, started in 2021, is a communication app designed to provide a unique and creative way for distant (远隔的) and cross-generational family members to stay connected. Through Zoog, users can make books come alive and actively take part in the story by using different visual features(视觉特效).
The Zoog app asks you to choose one of its many stories to read, and then offers prompts (提示) and adds AR effects to make the story more interesting. AR is a technology that allows computer-created sensory information, such as sound, video, or pictures, to be put on top of the real-world environment in real time. Once you’ve recorded yourself reading the story, you can send it as a message to your family member. This is a great feature as you can record or view the story whenever you like.

He said that his daughter would not speak to him on the phone so he used Zoog to change himself into Flip the Frog — a cartoon character — and now they read stories every night.
With impressive technology, Zoog is a pleasure to use and any grandparent can get the hang of it easily and quickly. “One of the first things that we set out to achieve was to allow even grandparents with limited (有限的) technology skills to produce cool AR content,” said Yoav Oren, the manager of Zoog. “Not only are grandparents creating AR content on Zoog, which they are enjoying, but their grandkids also think this content is cool and are inter
