On the day, people usually eat sweet round dumplings made of glutinous rice flour filled with different kinds of fillings. The snack is called yuanxiao in Chinese, so the festival is also named the Yuanxiao Festival.
·Guess Lantern Riddles
Guessing lantern riddles is a kind of amusing activity in folk. Being passed down from ancient times, guessing lantern riddles is a special activity at the Lantern Festival. At first, people hung lantern and fired firecrackers (鞭炮) to celebrate the Lantern Festival, and then somebody pasted riddles on the lanterns to let people guess. Slowly, it becomes a custom of the Lantern Festival. Guessing lantern riddles can not only inspire wisdom, but add more atmospheres (气氛) to the festival.
·Enjoy Beautiful Lantern
On the night of the festival, temples and parks are decorated with colorful lanterns made of paper gauze (薄纱) and glass, painted with interesting figures, as well as flowers and birds. After eating dinner, people like to walk around parks to enjoy the beautiful lantern.
·Play the Dragon Dance
In southern China, especially Guangdong and Guangxi, there are also some dragon dance performances in the streets and lanes. Where there is a dragon dance, where the people enjoy themselves.
