An Introduction to Guided Reading指导性阅读课介绍
We're here today to talk to you about guided reading. In a guided reading lesson a teacher will work with a group of round about six children. All of whom are reading at a similar reading attainment. A guided reading lesson follows a set framework. We’ve put together some video footage to share that framework with you, so watch along and enjoy the guided reading lessons.
Orientation
So the first thing that happens in a guided reading lesson is an orientation, and the purpose of this is to help the children think around the topic a little bit before they start to read. So typically, the first thing that would happen is the teacher points out the title of the book and helps the children to think about their prior knowledge and experiences the things they know about the topic of that book and that’ll help them think about what makes sense and what might sound right in the book they're about to read.
The clip we're going to look at. first is Arit goes shopping, look particularly for how the teacher here.guides the children just beginning to read to track along with the title and to think about the experiences they have had that are going to help them when they're reading this book. Right?
I'm going to hand out the book, can you just have a look at the front cover and see where you think the story might be happening. And what's going on?
We're going to look at another book orientation. Now this time the teacher is using a nonfiction book working with a group of older children. The purpose of a nonfiction book is to find out information, you'll see how the teacher helps children pose questions. Think about what they already know about earthquakes, think about what they might want to find out. It's a very different sort of orientation to get the children into the book.
Shall we read the title together now?
What does it say across the front of the book?
Who can read that word? Earthquakes.
What do you know about the word earthq
