1.What is the phrase “Stars after the storm” mainly about? A.The rescue of the cat Smartie during the hurricane. B.The survival and hope through the hurricane. C.The damage caused by the hurricane. D.The stars of New Orleans after the storm. 答案:B 2.What does the third paragraph mainly tell us? A.It rained heavily. B.Smartie was lost. C.There was no water to drink. D.The hurricane caused much trouble. 1.From paragraph 1, we know that Smartie is ____. A.the author's friend B.the author's cat C.the author's sister D.the author's classmate 2.According to paragraph 3,when the author realised he could stay at home, he felt ________. A.frightened B.upset C.pleased D.bored 3.What is the most important thing when the disaster comes according to the author's mom's words? A.Our house. B.Our property. C.Our health and safety. D.Smartie. 4.What sort of attitude to life is reflected in the author's experience of looking at the night sky? A.Positive. B.Negative. C.Indifferent. D.Hopeless. 如本题由题干中的looking at the night sky可定位至第四段倒数第四句,由该句后对“仰望星空”这一行为的具体描述,特别是本段最后一句中的 moments like those gave us hope for the future可知本题答案。 5.From the author's words “Although it was only a few days before we were rescued,it felt like months”, we can infer ________. A.they were upset for losing their house B.they would remember the experience C.they liked living in the open air D.they had a tough time before being rescued 答案:1~5 BCCAD (二)阅读表达 1.Why are “stars” mentioned by the author? Stars_in_the_night_sky_stand_for_the_hope_that_gives_them_the_confidence_to_move_on_and_rebuild_their_homes_and_lives,_which_reflects_their_positive_attitude_toward_the_hardships_in_life. 2.If you were in the same situation as the author, what would you think and do?(The answers may vary.) I_would_calm_down_and_think_of_something_positive,_and_meanwhile_I_would_spare_no_effort_to_seek_for_help. 1.It was August, so it was really, really hot and it smelled so bad everywhere! 2.Thankfully, Smartie came home just in time. 3.Some families have yet to return, but many others have come back. Thankfully,_nobody_was_hurt. (二)赏描摹之韵 1.(场景描写)It's strange, but I don't really remember much about the hurricane itself. It all happened so quickly.I was sitting in my room with my cat, Smartie, on my lap, when the roof just flew off. All of a sudden, there was sky where the roof had been. I was so frightened that I just froze. so quickly及 All of a sudden写出了灾难发生的速度之快以及作者的猝不及防。 最后一句又回到心理描写so frightened that I just froze,照应了开头,做出了总结。 2.(场景描写)Mom cried to get out quickly, but it was already too late by then. The rain was coming down so hard and so fast. Our street turned into a river in seconds. We were going nowhere. 然后用动词短语coming down,两个so修饰的副词so hard, so fast以及in seconds具体描写了当时的境况:大雨来势凶猛,街道瞬间变成了河流。 3.(比喻修辞)Living in the open air, we became breakfast, lunch and dinner for the mosquitos. 4.(主旨升华)Now we have another chance to look up at the stars of New Orleans, their beauty inspiring us and giving us confidence to move on. ①All_of_a_sudden,_there was a terrific bang and a flash of smoke. ②I_froze as I saw the tractor heading towards the motorway. ③The boy who was in the crowd just now disappeared in_seconds. ④We were driving along a country lane when_suddenly_a_car_drove_past_us. 1.But Mom said that whatever happens, we should always try to see the good side of things. It was difficult to stay positive, though. 2.We were so happy to take him with us, although then, none of us knew that we wouldn't be back for quite a while. [仿写训练|完成句子] ①She promised to phone. I_heard_nothing,_though. ②Although_then_I_was_nobody,_to attend the Olympics was every athlete's dream, and I've been making all my efforts to achieve it.
