1.Ask Ss" Do you know the writer of it?", then give a short introduction of Sima qian
2.Then play a video of Sima qian
Student activity: Read the text and answer questions
· What is the essay about?
The essay is about the great historian Sima Qian.
· What is the greatest achievement Sima Qian made?
He wrote the Shiji (Records of the Grand Historian).
· What contributed to Sima Qian’s success?
His father’s influence, his learning and travelling experiences, and his perseverance.
二、While-class
学生活动:在教师的引导下,了解表语从句。
1.含义:在句中充当表语的从句称为表语从句。这种从句往往进一步对主句的主语进行解释说明。
2.引导表语从句的连接词有连接代词(what,who,whom,whose,which),连接副词(when,where,how,why等)以及that,whether,as if/as though,because 等。
(1)that引导表语从句
that引导表语从句时仅起连接作用,无任何意义,在从句中不作任何成分,通常不可省略。

whether引导表语从句时起连接作用,意为“是否”,但在从句中不作任何成分。注意:if不能引导表语从句。
