Teaching Procedure: Stage Learning Activities Purposes Lead-in 1. Free talk. To warm up students and elicit the topic. Pre-listening 1. Make predictions about the dialogue according to the background information and pictures To help students practice predicting the listening materials. While-listening 1. Listen to the cassette for the first time and check the predictions. To help students practise getting the main idea after listening. 2. Listen to the cassette for the second time and extract the main idea of the dialogue. 3. Listen to the cassette for the third time and answer the questions. To help students practise getting the detailed information while listening. 3. Read after the cassette and find out when we read in a rising tone or a falling tone. To help students know how to read in a proper tone. 4. Do the pair work and complete the dialogue. To consolidate what they have learned. Post-listening 1. Do the pair work and plan a trip to Beijing. To have students apply what they have learned to the given situation. Assignments 1. Read the text on page 2 and imitate the recording. 2.
