According to a report by the Chinese Sleep Research Society, more than 60 percent of the teenagers do not get enough sleep, which can put their health at risk. Nearly 63 percent of the Chinese teenagers sleep less than eight hours a day. The report was based on a survey at the end of 2018 and in January, 2019. It covered nearly 70,000 teenagers across China.
The report found that the heavy school homework and the popularization of electronic devices were the top two causes of the lack of sleep. From Monday to Thursday, 8.4 percent of the group would still be busy with their homework after 11 p.m. More than 41 percent of the teenagers who sleep too little use electronic devices such as tablet computers and mobile phones, and teenagers whose parents use smartphones in front of them are more likely to have less sleep.
