In 1988, it was added to the World Heritage List. It used to be the palace of the rulers. James Ⅰ(1566—1625) was the last ruler to live there. It was used for many purposes after there were no rulers living in it, such as observatories, prisons and so on. Now it is one of the most popular historical attractions④ in the world.
