Dismissing small talk as unimportant is easy, but we can't forget that deep relationships wouldn't even exist if it weren't for casual conversation.Small talk is the grease(润滑剂) for social communication, says Bernardo Carducci, director of the Shyness Research Institute at Indiana University Southeast.“Almost every great love story and each big business deal begins with small talk,” he explains.“The key to successful small talk is learning how to connect with others, not just communicate with them.”
※What is important for successful small talk according to Carducci?
A.Showing good manners.
B.Relating to other people.
C.Focusing on a topic.
D.Making business deals.
根据题干中的关键词important, successful, small talk,迅速在文中找到“The key to successful small talk is learning how to connect with others, not just communicate with them.”
I first met Paul Newman in 1968,when George Roy Hill, the director of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,introduced us in New York City. When the studio didn't want me for the film—it wanted somebody as well known as Paul—he stood up for me.I don't know how many people would have done that;they would have listened to their agents or the studio powers.
※ Why was the studio unwilling to give the role to the author at first?
A.Paul Newman wanted it.
B.The studio powers didn't like his agent.
C.He wasn't famous enough.
D.The director recommended someone else.
根据题干中的关键词studio,role,author,迅速在文中找到“When the studio...he stood up for me.”
