It’s a prestigious award given to a person, group or idea that has made a significant impact on the world. This year, they have given the accolade to Taylor Swift. It is the first time it has been given to someone from the arts. For nearly two decades, Swift has been making music that has entertained millions. She has smashed many records and become one of the most successful musicians of all time. She holds the record for most US number one albums. This year, she had five albums in the US Top 10 simultaneously. She is the most streamed female artist on Spotify and Apple Music. She became a billionaire this year and her ongoing ‘Eras’ tour looks like it could earn around $2 billion – more than double the next most successful tour. Swift told Time: “This is the proudest and happiest I’ve ever felt, and the most creatively fulfilled and free I’ve ever been.” Taylor Swift Named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year Taylor Swift: Brian Friedman/Shutterstock.com Daily News Entertainment World News 12th December 2023 Comprehension Questions Today’s Big Question Teacher Note - Please do not let the next video automatically play at the end of the clip.
