He was cute and he did something really difficult. something really difficult意为“确实困难的事情”，形容词difficult作后置定语修饰不定代词something。形容词修饰不定代词，常放在不定代词之后，即形容词作不定代词的后置定语。例如： There is nothing new in today’s newspaper. 今天的报纸上没有什么新鲜事。 Do you have anything important to tell me? 你有什么重要的事情要告诉我吗？ 【拓展】 (1)不定代词作主语时，相当于第三人称单数。例如： Something is wrong. 某东西有问题。 (2) 常见的不定代词还有：anything; nothing; somebody; someone; anybody; nobody; no one等 2. I didn’t know the result until the last minute. until意为“直到……”，有下列用法： 作介词，后接时间名词，在句中作时间状语。 作连词，后接从句，引导时间状语从句。 例如： She stayed there until 9 o’clock. 她一直等到9点钟。 We waited until the rain stopped. 我们等到雨停了。 【拓展】 (1) until用在肯定句中，多与持续性的动词连用。如stand/wait/stay等，表示主句动作的终止时间。例如： I stayed at home until Mid-autumn Day. 我待在家直到中秋节。 (2) until可用于否定句中，即not…until…意为“直到……才……”，常与非延续性动词连用。如open/start/leave/arrive等，强调主句动作开始的时间。例如： The child didn’t go to bed until his father came back. 直到父亲回来，那个孩子才睡觉。 4.
