People often ask me for suggestions about how to learn English. As for it, everyone is different. I'll share some of my experience. I once took a school year English course in Wuhan University, but I mostly learned English on my own.

One thing I can tell you is that once you've started learning, you should try to think in English as much as you can. If you see something when you're riding your bike or walking down the street, just think about "How would I say them in English?" At first, it might be with simple words or phrases, but later you should think about longer phrases and sentences. Now I'm in America, and for most of the time, I would think in English and speak it directly. It's amazing how much this helps.

For several years after I started learning, I was often afraid of talking with others in English because I didn't want to make mistakes. Finally I got it over. And while traveling in America, I'd try to hang out with friends who couldn't speak Chinese, so that I'd have no choice but to speak English. And I also decided that if I said something stupid and other people laughed at me, then so be it. After that, my English started improving much more quickly.

Besides, it may be a good idea to ask your American friends to look at the way you're writing, and give you some suggestions for improvement.

The teacher stood before his class of 30 students and was going to hand out the final exam papers. “I know how hard you have all worked to get ready for this test,” he said. “And because I know you are all able to understand these questions, I am ready to offer a B to anyone who would prefer not to take the test.”

A number of students jumped up to thank the teacher and left the classroom. The teacher looked at the rest students and said, “Doe anyone else want to get a B? This is your last chance.” Two more students decided to go. Seven students stayed. The teacher then handed out the papers. There were only three sentences on the paper: Congratulations! You have received an A in this class. Keep believing in yourself.

I never had a teacher who gave a test like that, but I think that it is a test that any teacher could and should give. Students who do not have confidence in what they have learned are B students at most.

The same is true for students in real life. The A students are those who believe in what they are doing because they have learned from both success and failures. They have learned life’s lessons whether from school education or from events in their lives, and have become better people. Scientists say that by the age of eight, 80% of what we believe about ourselves have already been formed. You are a big kid now and you realize that you have some limits (局限). However, there is nothing you can’t do or learn to be. Sir Edmund Hillary, the first person to reach the top of Mount Qomolangma (珠穆朗玛) said, “We do not conquer the mountain, but ourselves.”

28.How many students left the classroom?

A.7.      B.23. C.30.

29.Some students left the classroom because ________.

A.they knew the teacher didn’t like them to take the testpage number 1
