Good morning, dear judges. It’s my great honor to be here to present my teaching design. The teaching topic is Unit 1. My teaching design will be presented into the following 6 parts. Part 1 The analysis of teaching material and students Part 2 The analysis of teaching objectives Part 3 The analysis of key and difficult points Part 4 The analysis of teaching and learning methods Part 5 The analysis of teaching procedure Part 6 Blackboard design Well, firstly, let’s focus on the first part, the analysis of teaching material and students. This is a reading lesson. The reading passage is from Book 2, Unit 1. The topic of this unit is Cultural Heritage, which belongs to the theme context “human and society”. The passage illustrates Aswan Dam project as a successful example to balance economic development and cultural heritage protection. And it’s developed in time order. The students for this lesson are lovely, creative and active. They are eager to learn something new. In the first lesson, they learned the new words and expressions of this unit. However, they maybe don’t know Aswan Dam and how the problem was solved. Part 2 The analysis of teaching objectives In order to promote the development of every student, the teaching objectives can be listed into the following 4 aspects. First, language ability, their reading ability will be enhanced through task-based reading activities and their speaking ability will be improved by encouraging them to express themselves bravely in English. Second, cultural awareness, they will learn about how the problem was solved and cultivate their cross-cultural awareness. Third, thinking capacity, their critical and creative thinking ability will be enhanced through prediction and discussion and so on. Last, learning ability, students will master the strategy of using the context to get the meaning of new words and expressions and summarize the main idea.
