Exercise 1
Purpose: to help students match photos of animals with the places they are from
· Direct students to the photos. Ask " What are these animals?" Elicit lions, a tiger, a kangaroo, and a panda. If any students presented on any of these animals, ask that student or those students to tell the class about the animal. You may skip this step if you feel students are ready to do the exercise.
· Have a world map ready. Read the continents in the exercise aloud, or have a student read them. To confirm comprehension, have students find the continents on the map. Then ask " Where are the animals from? Match them with the places". Monitor as students match the animals with the places, offering assistance as needed. If students need sup-port, have them work in pairs.
