Warm-up
Exercise 1
Purpose: to help students know months
· Direct students to the Key Words. Read the Key Words aloud, having students repeat after you. Have the months of the year on twelve separate cards. Put them at the front of the class, in random order. Ask " Which is the first month of the year?" Elicit or provide January. Have a student come to the front of the class and put the card with January in the first place. Continue with the other months, eliciting the order from students. Then collect the cards. If you feel your students are ready, you may skip this step.
· Direct students to the Key Words. Say "Look at the Key Words. Put the months in order" Monitor as students are putting the months in order, offering help as needed. If students need support, have them work in pairs.
· Go over students' answers, having individual students say the months aloud. Check students' pronunciation of the Key Words.

Note: Use these activities to give students more practice.
Activity 1: Play a game using the cards with the months. Make another set of cards if you have more than twelve students in your class. Give each student a card. Make sure you give all the cards out, giving two cards to some students if necessary. Then say "OK! Get in order!" Students should hurry to get in the order of the months. You can make it a competition if you have more than one team.
Activity 2: Direct students to the photos on page 41. Have them get into pairs and decide which months are shown in each photo. For Photo a, for example, students might say It's January or February. Encou
