Reading
Exercise 1
Purpose: to help students understand the content of a text and to match notes about routines with the correct students
· Read and understand the sample text. Direct students to the photos. Ask " What do they like to do?" Elicit or provide She likes playing tennis. He likes to look at the stars. He likes playing the piano. If students can't say what the boy in photo b is doing, teach them the language. If you feel your students are ready to do the exercise, you may skip this step.
· Say " Read the notes. What time do the students get up?" Monitor as students read the first time, offering assistance as needed. After students have finished reading, ask "When do they get up?" Elicit Student 1 usually gets up at six, student 2 always gets up early (no specific time) and student 3 gets up at seven. Encourage them to answer in complete sentences.
· Direct students to the photos and say“Now read the notes again. Match them with the students". Monitor as your students match the notes and the students, offering assistance as needed. If students need support, you may have them work in pairs.
· Go over the answers, encouraging students to answer in complete sentences.

Exercise 2
Purpose: to help students use cues to write their schedules
· Brainstorm what you want to write. Ask a more proficient student " What time do you usually get up?" Elicit an appropriate response. If you feel your students are ready to do the exercise, you may skip this step.
· Direct students to the phrases in the box. Read them aloud or have a student read them. If necessary, mime the actions to confirm comprehension. Then direct students to the open diary. Ask "What's your day like? Make a schedule. Use the phrases in the box to help you". Monitor as students
