Listening
Exercise 1
Purpose: to help students complete a timetable based on a listening
· Direct students to the photo and the timetable. Say "This is Lin Haijing. Look at her schedule. Do you have any of these classes?" Elicit appropriate answers. If you feel your students are ready to do the exercise, you may skip this step.
· Say " Now listen to the dialogue and answer this question: Which day is Lin Haijing's favourite school day?" Play the dialogue, the first time having students listen to answer the question. After students have finished listen-ing, ask "Which day is her favourite school day?" Elicit Monday. Then say "Now listen again. Complete the information about Lin Haijing's favourite school day". Play the recording again, pausing after the information is heard if necessary. If students need support, you may have them work in pairs.
· Go over the answers, asking individual students to say them aloud.

Exercise 2
Purpose: to help students complete a passage based on a reading
· Read and understand the sample text. Direct students to the writing. Ask " What is Lin Haijing's favourite school day?" Elicit Mon-day. If you feel your students are ready to do the exercise, you may skip this step.
· Say "Listen to the dialogue again. Complete Lin Haijing's writing". Monitor as stu
