Module 9 Population Unit 2 Arnwick was a city with population of 10.000.000. 教材分析： 本课是一节阅读课，通过本节阅读课来提高学生语言综合运用能力,本模块以“人口”为主要话题，设计环境污染，城市发展等内容。这些内容与人们的生活息息相关，在现实生活中多有体现。通过本模块的练习，学生能够了解世界人后的现状，了解城市人口过剩，噪音，污染等问题一级由此而产生的后果，从而增强其控制城市人口数量，保护环境的意识。 本节课通过讲述 jo这个学生谈起，介绍了她所在的小镇 Parwille变成 Arnwick这个城市的一部分的过程以及其中产生的问题，再扩展到全世界的城市所面临的问题。用从小到大的叙述方式让学生们了解了城市发展的过程和带来的诸多问题。从而引发学生思考如何解决这些问题，并在解决问题的过程中培养学生的环境保护的意识。课文生动细腻的描述很大程度上归功于丰富的词汇，在学习的过程中丰富了学生的词汇并提高了学生综合的阅读与表达能力, 从而体现新课程标准对英语学习的要求。 【教学目标】 Knowledge objective Key vocabulary — noise, prepare, report, grow, huge, cause, problem, birth, billion, fifth. Ability objective 1.
