选择性必修第三册 Unit 3　War and peace 授课提示：对应学生用书第226页 1．commander n．指挥官，长官 (1)command v．命令；博得；指挥 n．命令；掌握，运用能力 command sb.to do sth.命令某人做某事 command that...(should) do...命令…… (2)at one's command听某人支配 take command of指挥；控制；掌管 in command of掌管；掌握 have a good command of...精通…… We are supposed to learn English well because having a good command of English means more opportunities in the future. 我们理应学好英语，因为精通英语意味着在将来有更多的机会。 2．objective n．目的，目标 adj.客观的；就事论事的；不带个人感情的；宾格的 (1)the main/primary/principal objective主要目标 meet/achieve one's objective达到/实现某人的目标 (2)objective criteria客观标准 an objective analysis/assessment/report客观的分析/评价/报告 (3)object v．反对；不赞成 n．目标，目的；物体 object to sb./sth.反对/不赞成某人/某事 object to (sb.) doing sth.反对(某人)做某事 (4)objection n．不赞成；反对；异议 have/raise/make an objection to/against (doing) sth.对(做)某事表示反对 A stranger can give a more objective assessment than a friend. 陌生人比朋友更能给出客观的评价。 【点拨】object用作及物动词时，其后只能接that从句作宾语；若接名词或代词作宾语，其后要跟介词to。用作及物动词后接that从句时，从句所表示的内容不是反对的内容，而是反对的理由。 3．horror n．令人惊恐的事；恐怖(fright)，恐惧 (1)in horror惊恐地 to one's horror＝to the horror of sb.令某人感到恐惧的是 (2)horrible adj.可怕的；讨厌的 (3)horrify v．使惊吓，使惊恐 To her horror, her country is shrouded in the threat of nuclear weapons. 令她感到恐惧的是，她的国家笼罩在核武器的威胁下。 4．recall v．回想，回忆起 recall sb.to sth.使某人重新注意到或意识到某事 recall doing/having done sth.记得做过某事 It's time to recall those beautiful days we spent together. 是时候该回忆一下我们共同度过的那些美好日子了。 【点拨】表示记得做过某事，recall后接动词­ing形式，不接动词不定式，但有时可接带疑问词的动词不定式。 5．barely adv.勉强才能；几乎不；刚刚 (1)barely...when...一……就…… (2)barely understand仅仅理解，勉强懂 barely satisfactory差强人意 barely cover the costs勉强够成本 (3)bare adj.赤裸的；无遮盖的；空的；勉强的 vt.使暴露，露出 The workmen were bare to the waist, streaming with sweat. 工人们光着上身，汗流浃背。 【点拨】barely具有否定意义，若用于句首，句子要用部分倒装。 6．liberate v．解放(城市、国家等) (1)liberate sb.from sth.使某人摆脱……，把某人从……中解放出来 (2)liberty n．自由 at liberty不再受监禁，自由 at liberty to do sth.有权做某事，有做某事的自由 (3)liberation n．解放；释放；摆脱束缚 They have been liberated from the horrible poverty their grandparents suffered. 他们已经摆脱了其祖父母遭受的可怕的贫穷。 7．memorial adj.纪念的
