Exercise 5
Purpose: to help students use the Key Words and their plural forms
· Model the memory game with a game of ", Spy". Begin the game by saying, for example, "I spy with my little eye one DVD player". Ask a more proficient student " What do you see?" Elicit a sentence, for example, I spy with my little eye ( six dictionaries). If necessary, write the skeleton phrase on the board I spy with my little eye _____ .Then say "I spy with my little eye one DVD player and six dictionaries". Indicate to another student that he or she should continue. If students have trouble understanding, ask another student "What do you see?" and model the game again. You may also have four students read the Example aloud for the class as a model.
· Have students get into groups of four or five. They may begin with the "I Spy" phrase or simply begin as the Example in the Student Book. Monitor as students play the game, making sure they are producing proper plural forms. Check students' pronunciation of the Key Words.

· Bring in a box and a small object, such as a ball. Put the object in the box and ask " Where's the (ball)?" Elicit The (ball) is in the box. Say "Repeat. The (ball) is in the box. " and have students repeat after you several times, as you walk around the room, showing that the object is in the box. Then put the object under the box and ask "Where's the (ball)?" Elicit the answer and continue with the procedure above. Continue with the procedure to demonstrate next to and on, and demonstrate between by putting the object between the box and, for example, the door.
