Exercise 7
Purpose: to help students revise the numbers 21-100
· Do a dictation exercise with your students to revise numbers 1-20. Say “Write the number you hear”. Have a list of some numbers from 1-20. Say the numbers one at a time, giving students enough time to write. Go over the numbers with your students. Then ask the students to spell out the numbers. Have individual students come up to the board to write the numerals and spell out the numbers. If you feel your students are ready to do the exercise, you may skip this step.
· Direct students to the chart. Say“Look at the numbers. What numbers are missing?”Have individual students say the missing numbers. Then say“Read the numbers aloud.” and read with the class. Check students' pronunciation of the Key Words. Point out that we use a hyphen (-) with twenty-one to twenty-nine, thirty-one to thirty-nine, forty-one 10 forty-nine, etc., up to ninety-nine. Also, point out the spelling of forty, fifty and eighty.
