Exercise 3
Purpose: to help students listen for the specific times
· If you have not done the Expansion activity for Exercise 1, do it now to introduce Exercise 3. If you have, draw a clock on the board but without hands. Then ask a more proficient student to come to the board. Say " Draw the time that I say". Say a time, for example, "three thirty". Ask the class to judge if the time is drawn correctly. Say a few more times and have that student, or other students, draw the times. If you feel your students are ready to do the exercise, you may skip these steps.
· Say "Listen to the dialogue". Play the recording. The first time, have students just listen. Say "Now listen again and draw the time" Play the recording again, pausing after each dialogue for students to draw the time on the clock. Play the dialogues a third time if necessary.
· Go over the. answers, asking individual students to say the times.

Exercise 4
Purpose: to help students listen to draw inferences about information
· Direct students to the sentences. Ask " When is Susan's bedtime?" Elicit 10:30. Read item 1 aloud. Ask "Is it true or false?" Elicit True.
· Have students read the other sentences aloud. Then say, "Cover Exercise 3. Now listen to the dialogues again and write T for True and F for False". Play the dialogues again, pausing after each if necessary.
· Go over the answers. If students have trouble, play the dialogue again.
