Unit 8 Lesson 22 Famous Discoveries（第一课时） Lesson Focus ·The conditional ·Asking and answering questions about conditional situations Warm-up Exercise 1 Purpose: to help students express an opinion about discoveries · Direct students to the headings in the reading. Read them aloud, pointing to the photos to make sure students understand meaning. Ask“What discovery do you think is the most interesting one?“Have students get into pairs or small groups to discuss. Monitor, as students talk, offering help as needed. · Come together as a class, asking students to share their opinions. Expansion; Try It Like This! As an alternate approach, copy the photos from Student's Book. Show them to students before they see the reading. Ask students what the photos show. See what they know. Write all three discoveries on the board and ask students to tell you which photo shows which.
