Exercise 6
Purpose: to help students complete first conditional sentences
· Direct students to the sentences. Say“Complete the sentences with the correct form of the verbs in brackets”. Monitor, offering help as needed. Direct students to the chart in Exercise 5 if necessary.
· Go over the answers, asking individual students to say them aloud.

Exercise 7
Purpose: to help students complete first conditional sentences with their own ideas
· Choose one of the conditional clauses and complete it about yourself as an example. If you feel your students are ready, you may skip this step.
· Direct students to the conditional clauses. Say“Complete the first conditional sentences with your own ideas”. Monitor, offering help as needed.
· Go over the answers, asking individual students to say them aloud. Challenge students to switch the clauses, putting the result clause first.

Note: Use these activities to give students more practice.
Activity 1: Have students get into pairs after completing Exercise 7. Have them ask and answer questions about the sentences. For ex-ample, “What will you do if you go to London?”Monitor, offering help as needed.
Activity 2: Lead a modified grammar chant. Begin with an if-clause, for example,“If my cousin comes to visit ...”Have a volunteer student finish the sentence, for example, we'll go to the movies. Encourage another volunteer to make that into an if-clause: If we go to the movies... Encourage another volunteer to finish it: we'll see the new Spiderman. Continue until all students have had a chance to contribute to a sentence. Liven it up by setting a ticking clock so that students must think of something quickly. This should be lively and fun!
