小鸟之感
In
2012,
a
young
peewee
was
staying
in
my
spare
room
for
a
few
days.
The
little
bird
had
been
found
on
the
ground,
with
no
parents
in
sight,
and
brought
to
me—a
volunteer
wildlife
carer—until
longer-term
care
could
be
arranged.
As
it
was
not
yet
fuly
feathered,
the
peewee
had
fuzz(绒毛)
on
top
of
its
head,
the
last
sign
of
its
chick
period
of
development.
This
baby
bird
was
away
from
its
parents
and
its
natural
environment,
and
found
itself
in
strange
surroundings
in
the
middle
of
the
city,
where
it
thought
everything
was
new.
On
the
second
day,
I
heard
the
peewee
singing
from
inside
as
I
let
myself
through
the
gate
on
my
way
home
after
having
done
some
shopping.
I
went
inside
and
made
some
smal
meatbals,
which
I
fed
to
it
on
the
end
of
a
toothpick.
The
next
afternoon,
I
noticed
the
same
loud
singing
as
I
came
inside.
It
was
silent
when
I
stood
at
the
mailbox
looking
through
my
mail,
and
only
started
up
with
the
sound
of
opening
the
gate.
This
time
I
stopped
and
thought
about
it.
I
realized
that
this
bird
had
noticed
a
pattern
and
remembered
it:
opening
the
gate
=
the
carer
coming
home
=
the
carer
making
meatbals
=
the
carer
feeding
me
on
meatbals
=
a
ful
stomach.
Or,
in
short,
opening
the
gate
=
a
ful
stomach.
The
little
peewee
learned
fast
in
logic(逻
辑).
After
just
one
day,
it
knew
what
might
happen
after
I
.
Of
course,
this
action
was
important
for
its
living.
Caught
in
a
smal
cage
in
a
foreign
environment,
it
