·By reading the model essay, summarize the content of their writing.

Exercise 5
· Identify the structure and language for the special topic. Direct students to the writing in Exercise 1. Ask“Where did the writer get the information for the report?”Elicit or provide the table. Point out that the first paragraph is the introduction, giving general information about the topic. Read the first paragraph aloud. Point out that the next three paragraphs give information on each of the classes and their results, based on the table. If you feel your students are ready to do the exercise, you may skip this step.
· Write. Direct students to their tables in Exercise 3 and sentences in Exercise 4, as well as to Luke's writing. Say“Now use your tables and sentences to write a report about the sports games at school. Be sure to have an introduction, giving general information, and a paragraph for each of the classes. Use the structure of the writing in Exercise 1 to help you”. Monitor closely as students write, offering help as needed. Be sure to give students enough time to write. If time is short in class, allow students to finish their paragraphs for homework.
· Self-check. When students have finished writing their reports, either give them a handout with the following checklist or write it on the board;
□I have an introduction.
□I included all the classes in the games and their results.
□I used all Key Words and vocabulary correctly.
□I double-checked spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Read the list aloud, making sure students understand the meaning. Say “Now read your writing. Can you check all the points on the list?” Monitor as students read their re-ports, offering assistance on how they can improve them.
· Peer-review checklist. When students have finished doing the Self-check, have them swap papers with a partner. Alternatively, you may collec
