Reading
Exercise 1
Purpose: to help students understand the content of a text and to answer questions based on the text
· Read and understand the sample text.Read the direction line and title of the reading aloud. Ask“What will the blog be about?”Elicit or provide Jack's favourite TV programme. If you feel your students are ready to do the exercise, you may skip this step.
· Say“Read Jack's blog. What is the name of Jack's favourite TV programme?”Monitor as students read the first time, offering assistance as needed. After students have finished reading, ask“What is the name of his favourite programme?”Elicit Animal World.
· Direct students to the questions. Read them aloud, or have a student read them. Then say“Now read the blog again and answer the questions”. Monitor as your students answer the questions, offering assistance as needed. If students need support, you may have them work in pairs.
· Go over the answers, encouraging students to answer in complete sentences.
Answers

Exercise 2
Purpose: to help students complete a mind map based on a text
· Direct students to the mind map. Say“Look at the list. You will read the blog again and complete the mind map. What information do you need to find?”Elicit The reasons why Jack likes Animal World. If you feel your students are ready, you may skip this step.
· Say "Read Jack's blog again and complete the mind map". Monitor, offering help as needed. If students need support, have them work in pairs.
· Go over the answer, first having students compare their answer with a partner's or another pair's. Then ask individual students to take turns completing a similar mind map on the board
