I was sitting on the sofa in an effort to recover from the week of activities when the phone rang."Hi,Connie."My father's voice greeted me from the other end of the phone line early afternoon."Mom and I are almost home in one hour.We bought some banana bread for you！"

Since thoughts of freshly baked banana bread clouded my sensibilities and rendered me unable to think of an excuse,I replied in my cheeriest voice,"Of course,come on up.I'll be here!"

What was I thinking?I couldn't let my mother see the house messy like this!She always taught me "One can't succeed without being self-reliant."She also did the same.When she was at home,she would always keep the house clean and orderly.

I had to think fast!There were two options:I could call back and tell

them I had went out;or I could attempt to clean the house within sixty minutes.In a fleeting moment of gut at the thought of my parents and leaving the house messy,I chose what seemed like the impossible immediately-clean the house in sixty minutes or less.I had been much busier than usual the past week.As a result,the house was neglected.But I told myself, “Where there's a will,there's a way."Then I put my words into action!
