★burst   v. 爆裂

(1) 爆炸，爆裂（burst   burst   burst）

eg. We had to burst the door open.    我们必须破门而入。

 = break into

   The ballon suddenly burst.          气球突然爆了。

   The tyre burst.                     轮胎爆了。

(2) 突然…起来，使突然…起来

eg. The door burst open.               门突然打开。

burst into tears                   突然大哭起来

burst into laughter                突然大笑起来

burst into cheers                  突然欢呼起来

(1) adj. 平均的

eg. the average age                    平均年龄

the average score                  平均分数

(2) adj. 一般的

eg. an average student                 中等生

(3) n. 平均数

eg. The average of 7,8 and 9 is 8.     7,8,9的平均数是8。

Work out an average.               算出平均数。

eg. If you average 7,14 and 6, you will get 9.
