Teaching procedure:
Warm-up (5 minutes)
1. Begin by asking students about their own experiences with healthy habits. Encourage them to share examples of activities they engage in regularly that contribute to their overall well-being.
2. Discuss common challenges people face when trying to adopt healthy habits and brainstorm ways to overcome these challenges.
Instruction (30 minutes)
1. Introduce the topic of "healthy habits for a balanced life" and provide an example of a well-written page in a wellness book. Read the paragraph out loud and discuss its organization, language, and effectiveness in conveying the message.
2. Break students into small groups and assign each group one aspect of healthy habits to focus on (e.g., exercise, nutrition, sleep, stress management). Have them research and gather information on their assigned topic, taking notes on key points.
3. Instruct students to create an outline for their page, including an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Encourage them to use transitional words and phrases to connect their ideas and make their writing flow smoothly.
4. Assign each group a specific part of the outline to work on (e.g., introduction, body paragraphs). Walk students through the process of writing their paragraph, focusing on proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
5. After all groups have completed their paragraphs, have them exchange their work with another group and provide feedback on each other's writing. Encourage them to use specific examples and evidence to support their points.
