Inviting a Friend to a Sports Event

 

Teaching Objectives:

1. Students will be able to express their willingness to invite a friend to a sports event in English.

2. Students will be able to understand and use appropriate vocabulary and grammar structures for this purpose.

3. Students will be able to participate in group discussions and activities to practice their listening and speaking skills.

 

Preparation:

1. Prepare handouts with vocabulary and grammar exercises related to inviting friends to events.

2. Create a list of possible sports events that students can invite their friends to.

3. Prepare audio or video clips of native speakers discussing the topic of inviting friends to events.

 

Teaching Points and Difficulties:

1. Vocabulary related to inviting friends, sports events, and expressing willingness: willing, invite, sports event, etc.

2. Grammar structures for making invitations and expressing willingness: "I would like to invite you to...," "I am willing to...", etc.

3. Listening and speaking skills in group discussions and activities.

 

Teaching Procedure:

1. Warm-up (5 minutes)

   - Greet students and ask them about their plans for the weekend or any upcoming events they are excited about.

   - Ask students if they have ever invited someone to an event and why they chose that person.

 

2. Presentation (10 minutes)

   - Introduce the topic of inviting friends to sports events and provide examples of how it can be used in daily life.

   - Discuss the importance of being polite and enthusiastic when making invitations.

   - Review vocabulary and grammar structures related to inviting friends and expressing willingness.
