"Invite a Friend to a Sports Event"

 

Objective: By the end of the class, students will be able to understand and participate in a conversation about inviting a friend to a sports event. They will also be able to express their opinions and ideas on this topic in English.

Teaching Process:

1. Warm-up (5 minutes): Begin the class by asking students about their favorite sports events and who they would like to invite to these events. This will help set the context for the upcoming lesson.

 

2. Presentation (10 minutes): Show a short video clip about inviting a friend to a sports event. After the video, discuss the vocabulary and phrases used in the video, such as "invite," "friend," "sports event," "ticket," "game," "cheer," and "teammate." Use the target vocabulary list as needed.

 

3. Practice (15 minutes): Divide the class into pairs or small groups. Each group is given a scenario about inviting a friend to a sports event. The scenarios can be based on real-life situations or made up scenarios. Ask each group to discuss their scenario in English and come up with at least one suggestion for how they would invite their friend(s) to the sports event. After each group has finished discussing, have them share their ideas with the class.

 

4. Production (10 minutes): Ask each student to write a short paragraph about inviting a friend to a sports event. They should include at least one example sentence using the target vocabulary from the lesson. Encourage them to use descriptive language and show their enthusiasm for sports events and inviting friends to them.
