- find it difficult to learn English 发现学英语很难
短语结构是find it + adj.+ to do sth.意为“发现做某事......”。find后的it是形式宾语，真正的宾语是后面的动词不定式，形容词在中间作宾语补足语。
Linda finds it easy to play the piano.
Mary finds it hard to sing well.
〖拓展〗类似用法的动词还有make, think, feel等。
(1) make it + adj.+ to do sth.意为“使做某事......”
Miss Li makes it interesting to learn math.
(2) think it + adj.+ to do sth.意为“认为做某事......”

(3) feel it + adj.+ to do sth.意为“感觉做某事......”

其中“the secret to...”表示“......的秘诀”，此句中secret是可数名词，意为“秘诀，秘密”
Everyone wants to know the secret to be successful.
They know the secret to happiness.

(1) secret作可数名词时的常用短语还有keep secrets/a secret,意为“保守秘密”；
We should keep secrets for our friends.
(2) secret还可作形容词，意为“秘密的，保密的”

discover | “发现，发觉”，指发现原本就存在的事物 |
invent | “发明”，指创造出原本不存在的事物 |

- look up （在词典、参考书或通过电脑）查阅
look up是“动词+副词”短语，当名词作其宾语时，可把名词置于look和up 之间或up之后；当代词作其宾语时，则只能把代词置于look和up 之间。
You can look up the new words in the dictionary.
Jack didn’t know these words. His teacher asked him to look them up in a dictionary.
重难点句子
- The teacher said so quickly that I did not understand her most of the time. 老师说得太快以至于我大部分时间都听不懂。
其中so ...that...表示“如此......以至于......”，引导结果状语从句，so后接形容词或副词，常用的结构有：
(1) so+adj./adv.+that从句

Anna is so beautiful a girl that everyone likes her.
It is so hot a day that we don’t feel well.

There are so many people in the shop that Lily doesn’t want to walk in it.
〖拓展〗such...that...也表示“如此......以至于......”，但是such是形容词，用于修饰名词，其常用结构是：
(1) such+ a/an+adj. +可数名词单数形式+ that从句
It’s such a clever dog that it plays an important role in my life.
(2) such+ adj. +不可数名词/可数名词复数形式+ that从句
They are such interesting novels that I want to read them once again.
- I was afraid to ask questions because of my poor pronunciation.
因为我的发音不好，我害怕提问。
(1) be afraid to do sth.表示“害怕做某事”
Julie is afraid to walk alone at night.
