Each year in the first week of May,Canada's capital city Ottawa becomes a flower ocean. More than three million tulips cover the roads,on both sides of the Ottawa River. These beautiful flowers announce the arrival of spring and the official opening of the Canadian Tulip Festival,which is the world's largest tulip festival. During this period,Canada's capital will be alive with not only blooming tulips,but music,parades (游行),fireworks,and people from around the world.

The German army had invaded the Netherlands in May,1940,and the royal family was forced to run away from their country. They went first to London then on to Ottawa where they were given Government House as a shelter.
