Unit 5 First aid Reading: First Aid for Burns ⅠAnalysis of the teaching materials This is the first teaching period which includes warming-up and reading. The teaching material comes from the first reading part in unit 5 First Aid in New Senior English for China Student’s Book 5. The passage belongs to an expository writing about procedures and it mainly tells the causes, types, characteristics of burns and first aid treatment for burns. Ⅱ Analysis of the students As senior high school students in Grade Two, they have grasped some reading skills, such as skimming, scanning and so on. But they are short of using the reading skills to find the answers correctly and quickly when doing the comprehending. So they need to enhance the training in reading. By designing some interesting activities, students are willing to join the class. Ⅲ Teaching Aims   At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to: 1. Language aim:   Learn and master useful words, phrases and sentences in this period.                    2. Ability aim:  Learn useful reading skills and have a better understanding of the content and the structure of the passage.                              3. Emotion aim:   Increase the awareness of first aid and the importance of learning first aid knowledge.
