The Teaching Plan
U2 Lesson 1 The Underdog
I.Analysis of The Teaching Material and Learners:
The Teaching Material
The teaching material is a reading part of narrative texts, which is divided into two parts. The first part mainly tells about Paul, a high school student who is only 1.6 meters tall. With his love for basketball, he still perseveres in training. However, unfortunately, because of his height, he can not get the trust of the coach, and rarely has the opportunity to participate in the game. The second part describes that Paul got a chance to play in an important game due to the injury of the players, and finally he won the game with his extraordinary strength and was recognized by the coach. This article is a character introduction. Through the third person perspective of Paul's friend and teammate "I", it describes Paul's path of counterattack and the change of coach's emotional attitude before and after the game, and conveys to the students the sportsmanship of fearing no difficulties, being optimistic and striving bravely.
