(2023·江苏苏州·统考模拟预测)With gas prices rising and airport security lines snaking longer than ever, why not book your next domestic vacation on a train? Compared to other alternatives, it’s comfortable and relaxing. Here is some advice on how to make a trip by rail as pleasant as possible
Plan ahead. Most long-distance trains, especially the sleeping car accommodations, sell out very quickly. 6 But no matter when you travel, it’s a good idea to make your reservations at least 90 days in advance.
Use a travel agent. Consider turning your travel plan over to a travel agent and letting him double-check all the details, make suggestions, and then handle the actual reservations. A good one can sometimes find you discounted tickets. 7 Then you won’t have to walk through several cars on a moving train three times a day for your meats.
Bring a blanket. When you’re riding on trains, you won’t be provided with-a blanket for free even if your trip is an overnight one. 8 In the summer in particular, the air conditioning can make them quite cold
Arrive early. Most trains operate just once a day and some run only three times a week, so missing yours can be a disaster. 9 Note:The times listed on the schedules are departure times, not arrival times.
Have fun. 10 Read a book, knit, do a crossword puzzle, or simply watch the world unfold outside the window. To calculate your speed as you do, divide 3, 600 (the number of seconds in an hour) by the number of seconds it takes you to travel one mile (the distance between two mileposts). If it takes the train 53 seconds to travel one mile, you’re going 67.92 mph.
A.Train trips aren’t for impatient types.
B.You’ll have views from both sides of the train.
C.That’s particularly true during busy summer months.
D.The temperature on rail cars is often hard to control.
E.Chances are the cost will be a lot less than the cost of one bedroom.
F.He may also book you in a sleeping car that’s right next to the diner.
G.You might have to wait longer than twenty-four hours to catch the next one.

have friends who can provide it. And if there are friendships that do not fulfill (满足) you anymore, just let them go.
Start with those you miss most. Rekindling (重新唤起) a relationship is easier than starting one. If it’s someone you deeply care about and really miss, they are going to be thrilled to hear from you. 13 Sometimes the best way to maintain a friendship is to show up when you are needed. And it can feel good to help someone else rather than always focus on your own issues.
Once you have identified the types of friends you need, take action to find them. Start with the area of your life that feels loneliest. For me, after two years of not seeing colleagues in person, I realized I need more work friends. The rekindling-versus-starting-anew advice holds here, too. Have you recently moved? Maybe there is someone from your past who lives nearby. Join a group of people who share your interests — or your current struggle — and show up regularly. 14
Don’t limit yourself by age, race, gender or anything else. Often, the people who expand our world to the greatest extent are those who are different from us. 15 It is great to have friends close by, but that is not always possible. With the Internet, you can make a meaningful connection anywhere. Remember that family and even pets can be friends, too. If you can keep your definition of friendship broad, you are going to have the strongest team.
A.You need people who understand you.
B.Don’t let geography hold you back, either.
C.Make a list of the different areas in your life.
D.Now it is time to do this with our friendships.
E.It is important to have friends in the same life stage as you.
F.Research shows friendship happens with repeated interaction.
G.Prioritize friends who’re experiencing a tough time and need support.
(2023·江苏南京·统考二模)If you’ve studied biology, you’ve probably learned about blood types. Or perhaps you have learned something about blood types from social media. 16 These letters correspond to two antigens(抗原),A and B.People with AB blood have both antigens, those with A or B have only one, and people with O have no antigens at all.
17 If you’ve had a blood transfusion(输血), you are probably aware that your blood type determines which blood you can receive. Maybe you’ll think that you should plan your meals based on your blood type. 18 This last concept is popular in Asia, particularly in South Korea. Someone with type-A blood is thought to
