Materials: · Whiteboard or blackboard · Markers or chalk · Student textbooks · Handouts or worksheets · Pictures or flashcards related to activities Procedure: Warm-up : · Greet the students and ask them about their day, using the present continuous tense. For example: “How are you feeling today? What are you doing right now?” · Encourage students to respond using the present continuous tense, e.g., “I’m feeling excited, and I’m reading a book.” Introduction to vocabulary: 1) Present and explain new vocabulary related to everyday activities using visual aids, flashcards, or pictures. 2) Teach the vocabulary with examples and encourage students to repeat after you. 3) Drill the pronunciation and meaning of the new words. Grammar presentation : · Introduce the present continuous tense to the students using gestures and visuals. · Explain the usage of the present continuous tense for describing ongoing actions in the present. · Provide examples of sentences using the present continuous tense and elicit their meanings from the students. · Write the structure on the board: subject + “be” verb (am/is/are) + verb + “-ing.” Controlled practice: 1) Distribute worksheets or handouts with fill-in-the-blank exercises using the present continuous tense. 2) Instruct students to complete the sentences with the appropriate form of the verbs in brackets. 3) Monitor their progress and provide assistance as necessary.
