Lyn Hender, a doctor, studies how violent (暴力的) games influence the way teenagers think. She found that both weak and strong students clearly used complex (复杂的) thinking skills. “I think we never really see the advantages of such games in education,” Dr Hender said.
The students played a game called “Get the Money” in which a group has to make money in different ways. For this game you need to think in almost the same way that you would do in a sports game. “This is not an easy game. Actually, you have to use logic (逻辑) as well as changing how you think,” Dr Hender said.
When some weak students were as successful as their stronger classmates, teachers were surprised. Sometimes they were even better. “One weaker student completed a complex card game,” Dr Hender said. “I discovered she did it very easily, but some of the strong students had problems.”
Dr Hender said that these games used the same strategies (策略) that were valuable in classrooms. Teachers could try to make use of these games and give tasks based on (以……为基础) them to students in class.
